Zx81 back in the day?
It was some kind of trading game. Sure it was buying and selling shares.
Googled my search and it very possibly is The Trading Game. But does anyone have any other suggestions

"The Trading Game" doesn't ring any bell to me in ZX81 context, maybe others know more.
Simply "Trader" comes to mind, here's some others:
Stock Market
Stock Market Game
It would help if you could remember shares in what the game was about. Or other specifics (graphics or not, screen layout, game publisher, color/picture on the cassette inlay, commercial software or type-in from a magazine, etc, etc, whatever comes to mind).
