Lucasfilm (and ILM) sold to Disney

Interesting...

Especially the part about Episode 7. Hmmm, as long as it's done right, and Lucas isn't directing, I don't mind that part at all.

Who's the more of a money grabbing bast? The money grabbing bast, or the money grabbing bast who follows him?

Where on earth did they pluck that from? It's the first I've heard of it!*

Well, apart from all those rumours, years ago.

Oh, no, this means we'll get characters with terrible Mickey Mouse voices.

    EDIT: Scratch that...

I don't think ILM are quite the SFx masters they used to be in the 70's to 90's. Weta have overtook them in regards to quality and they're not exactly prolific at churning out movies either.

I'm still massively shocked by the news though. I don't think it will mean utterly kiddifying Star Wars, they bought Miramax just after Pulp Fiction was released and still produced adult-themed films on that label.

yeah i agree with ilm, but star wars is such a huge brand name.

yeah theres not a right lot to make more childish, unless they decide to put jar jar in a nappy.

maybe it will be good, maybe not. will be interesting to see ep 7 just to see if they decide to ignore the 'extended universe' books. which they prolly will.

    Just imagine the cross-over possibilities.

"You guys get Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem and we get the Max Rebo band ... no, wait, we'd prefer Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes."

Funny if they went with the rumours from years ago about the Jedi Academy, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher both look about 900 years old, and they've already used Ewan Mc Gregor on episodes 1-3 so they can't use that handsome bastard to play Luke

I think Noel Gallegher should play luke, he's as ugly as Mark Hamill and he has the same stupid haircut.

Going way way back it was always meant to be three trilogy's, the original was the adventures of Luke Skywalker, the new Obi-Wan-Kenobi and the third which hasn't been done was Han Solo. This is what I'm hoping for.

I'm looking forward to the Disney/Pixar/Star Wars crossover about a culinary genius rat helping a young Luke Skywalker in his quest to have the best French Restaurant in the Galaxy. It will be called 'Ratatooine'.

And they get better script writers and don't do every scene on a greenscreen.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I just hope it doesn't affect the Star Wars Revisited fan edits by Adywan, the amount of work that guy has put in is unbelievable.

I can't watch Lucas's continual mucking around with the films adding CG where it isn't needed (R2D2 behind a load of rocks in the Blu Ray version that were never there before etc) since I watched A New Hope Revisted, how Adywan increased the pace in the fight scene between Obi Wan and Darth is a joy and Han actually get some 'manouvers' rather than 'listing lazily to the left'.

Wouldn't mind seeing some films based on the New Jedi Order fighting the incursion from the Yuuzhan Vong, or perhaps some Knights of the Old Republic, Lucas seems fixated on the bloody Clone Wars (although I do like the cartoon).

2015, hmmm I wonder what we will see.

Yep, that's what I also read some years ago, but apart from this, according to the article, new Star Wars films every 2-3 years will spoil the franchise.

Disney are going to milk it for every drop.

I like the original trilogy and I got dragged to see The Phantom Menace at the cinema, I hate the cinema but it wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for Jar Jar Binks. I still haven't seen the middle one and the last one was just a joke, I literally fell off my chair laughing at 'Nooooooooooooo......' and spent the next 10 minutes laid on the floor heaving with laughter to the point where my mate thought I was going to have some kind of apoplectic seizure.

Interesting. I thought the first two were utter pants and the third was a little more like it (only a little, mind). Then again, I've never been crazy about ROTJ either...

Thing is with Star Wars is that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

The films leave you feeling slightly disappointed (well except Empire for the most part). The books on the whole are well written, as are the graphic novels.

I think that Lucas' control over the whole universe was a good thing, but as a director I've never really rated him so if there are some new films I will be really interested to see what is done I just hope that the control over the timeline is adhered to.

There's really no need to panic. Disney can't just stuff the whole lot into an envelope, post it to Joss Whedon and everything will be amazing. It sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not.
