Pacific Rim

The first full trailer of Del Toro's 'Pacific Rim'.
I mean it sounds and looks like it could be good but a generic trailer after the wonderful Man Of Steel trailer just isn't helping me fully get into it.

    A Hollywood Mech movie?

Interesting! Not really seen one of those since the rather awful Robot Joxx

im sure it would at least take an hour and a half to get the missle ready, get the locations locked in, get the president to sign off on the order. even if the missle was fired from a sub it might take half an hour to reach the traget.

the sequel would be the massive clean up operation

That's the beauty of those tactical nukes...they are limited in their destruction/mess.

The 2 gazillion gallons of oil that leaked into the Gulf of Mexico a couple of years ago would be messier and that was cleaned up in no time...when I go to Galveston fishing the fish are already oiled ready for the pan!

im thinking more of the monster doing some damage before it gets killed. i assume that even in the future the dreadful american foreign policy doesn't allow it to fire hydrogen bombs at things that haven't proved to be a threat to national security

Perhaps the UN could outlaw the monsters before they appear? It worked well with the N. Koreans and their missiles...oh wait.

Haha! What a pile of arse

Wasn't it made by the same people who made Robot Joxx though? Pretty much released at the same time as well?

Remember Arena that was made by the same company as well I think, what a terrible film. Only just found out though that the guy who directed Arena also directed the rather silly tech/time travel movie Eliminators (Eliminators is really crap, but I harbour a secret love for that movie, the Mandroid is an awesome hero hahaha!)

Surely the British thing to do with them is just to simply pooh-pooh them? That'll put the buggers in their place!

No, the British thing to do is to commission a detailed scientific study into the monsters origins, biology, and how best to combat them, give it to the Prime Minister, who completely ignores it and goes with whatever the Daily Mail says.
