My Local CEX...

Already has a Wii U in the window. Someone was obviously as impressed with it as I was with the Wii. Or it was stolen.

Sometimes they actually give you more money than what you paid for it! When the Wii first came out and there were all those shortages you could get ?200 from them for a ?180 console. They were then selling them on for near enough ?300.

Doubt that is the case with the 'U' though. I have had a go on one and I must say I was pretty impressed - but it desperately needs a 'proper' Mario and a Zelda. The streaming to the tablet screen is a work of genius and I won't be surprised in the slightest if the next MS and Sony consoles do the same.

Mine has had (and still has) at least 2 in! One basic white one and a premium black one. Reasonbly priced I suppose. I was quite surprised to see them so early as they've had tgem for about 2 weeks now! I'm considering buying one now. GAME have a couple of decent looking bundles. Nintendo Land another game for about ?320ish, depending on the game. That also has various pits and bobs for the pad.

The main reason I'd like one now is to have a decent Wii picture. Does anyone know how easy it is to transfer save games over from a Wii? I really don't fancy starting most of my games again ;-)

    320 quid for a Wii U :o

We pay about that in dollars here, what a rip!

Oh and just for the record I have no interest in this machine, I've had a regular wii for 3 years and I've barely touched it really.

    Great Netflix hub though

That's exactly what a new Nintendo doesn't need. How about some original ideas please?
Every Nintendo console is the same: New Mario, new Zelda, new Mario Kart and a ton of 3rd party shovelware.

    Haha!

Rockband: Girls Aloud Edition, pre order and get a pair of their skiddied undies for free, a sticker, a guitar in the shape of Cheryl Tweedy's heed, and a Nadine Coyle Fleshlight.

....and a playable demo of a new Metroid, Castlevania, or Kirby game :D

No, for the Ninty fans it is EXACTLY what it needs to encourage them to buy the console - I'm a prime example of that and I'm far from being alone. What's the point in buying one to play Arkham City, MW3, etc, games that we can play on existing consoles?

I do actually agree with you that Nintendo do need to get some original IP. But it's bloody madness releasing a Nintendo console without their leading mascots.

That's about normal for any kind of electrical product I believe! Whatever the price is in dollars, they usually just change the dollar sign to a pound sign. It's not just a Nintendo thing, but also Sony and Microsoft too. They usually blame "import duty" or "high.business rates" for the near price doubling :-(
