what's the band?

been racking my brain and googling, trying to remember this band. the reason I know about them is because they were definitely featured on a some kind of clips show, as the "unluckiest band of all time" or words to that effect. something like they never got the fame they deserved, and then one or maybe two of them commit suicide, and possibly something about a car accident? I'm pretty sure they were english. Google is trying to tell me it's Lynnard Skynnard but I'm sure they were English.

any ideas?

    nah. I know one of them did die though.

    it does sound right, but if its just a clipshow then it could be someones oppinion as im sure loads of bands could be called unlucky

    sure they were UK.. maybe welsh... 70s era maybe. oh well.

    Yes! must be. thanks , that was going to bug me forever.

    just reading their wiki and there's no mention of an actual car crash. somehow I'm remembering there was a bit about one member suffering brain damage from a car crash? it's possible I've invented that... Badfinger seems too close a match for it not to be right

    The trouble with Badfinger were they were about 5 years too late! They were a sixties band in the seventies!

    doh. After more searching cause the car crash thing was bugging me, it's actually not Badfinger, it was these guys 'Patto'

    two of their number died while the other two were involved in a terrible car smash which left one with severe physical injuries and the other with severe mental problems. Drummer John Halsey is now the only Patto member who could possible give us an interview. Mike Patto and Ollie Halsall are both gone, while bassist Clive Griffiths apparently doesn't even recall being in a band!

    The Allman Brothers lost a few members to road accidents. Mind you, they have quite a few members in the band and double up on most instruments so they can cope with a few casualties.

    yeah...bit strange how I somehow remembered suicides and welsh, which doesn't fit patto and does fit Badfinger... It's definitely patto though.

    Sounds like they had a few good songs tbh, I'd be up for a Xmas #1 campaign :)

    Yeah, why not! There's no facebook page for them at all so we could create one called 'Patto for Christmas No.1 2013'. It's the sympathy vote that'll get them there. The main stumbling block is anyone who sees it will wonder who the hell Patto are and why should they be at no.1. If that tv clip of them were on youtube it'd help. Maybe it'll turn up at some point.

    yeah maybe... I don't do facebook though. I haven't got the face for it. (but I did read a book once)

    had a look on imdb which is pretty comprehensive these days, no 'clips' program is coming up when I type in band members, I'll keep an eye out though...
