Covers book?

edited February 2013 in Sinclair Miscellaneous
Hi all.

Is there any existing book published in UK with art/covers of Spectrum games?

Here in Spain, a couple of years ago was published a book showing Azpiri's covers. Check the following screenshots and you'll make an idea:

And now, you can buy "Azpiri: Tape Covers I", with A3-size version of the artwork used in 8 Spectrum covers (25 EUR, shipping included):

I wonder if is there something similar that includes the best / most beautiful covers for UK games...

I'm not sure there was a single dominant tape cover artist like Azpiri. The most well known artists from 'back in the day' were the magazine artists, for example Oliver Frey (and I've only seen mousemats/mugs from Ollie Frey's Crash artwork)

I imagined that, but I was expecting that somebody would put work from different artists in a single book...

Maybe a non-profit-crowdfunding-project (physical books at shipping costs) would allow multiple cover artists to "give permissions" to reproduce their artwork in a "collectors book".

I mean, something like "The History of Ocean Software"...

Or maybe if each book is charged with some benefits that go directly to the artists and the project coordinator...

    Anyway, thanks for answering.

And what about Bob Wakelin? His artwork was awesome.

    According to the "Ocean Book":

Flyer Fox, Hunchback, Matchday, Superbowl, Gryzor, Operation Wolf, Rastan, Renegade III, Target Renegade, The Games '92, Comic Bakery, Daley Thompson's Decathlon, Galivan, Movie, Mutants, Roland's Rat Race, Super Soccer, Wizball, Choplifter 3 (unused artwork), Hypersports, Mikie, Narc, Newzealand Story, Nightmare Rally, Parallax, Parasol Stars, Psycho Soldier, Rainbow Islands, Rainbow Islands (with logo - new rework), Road Frog, Shadow Warriors, Where Time Stood Still, Vindicator, Wizkid

    ...

Yes, I would buy a book with those covers...

Anybody to subliminaly send the idea to Bob Wakelin?

I wish Ponce would also release a book of his artwork for Microhobby, especially those covers with the hidden signature. The magazine covers were motive enough to buy the magazine!

    SOLD!

This wouldn't have too much "work". Just the plain covers in an A4-full-colour book... maybe a short introduction and a small description of each cover by Ponce himself...

That was from a show/gathering. I don't think he has to sell as such, but you could check out his homepage and even contact him :)
