I always thought this fella looked cool, never owned one though, and dont have the room now for dead weight :)
I have a 400, 800 and a few 800xls and a 130xe (very recently got) that I have got last year.. I missed out on a 65xe the other day due to forgetting to bid.. functionality wise 400/800 is a pain due to memory. The 800's go for a fair bit on ebay and it took me a few attempts to not get outbid.
the ti99/4's appear on ebay a lot (atari age forum has users on there) and they go at an OK price (just over the cost of maybe a grey boxed +2).. the issue with them is the modulator + psu really.. you can use composite video instead though..but they are basically modded versions done in Italy for the euro maket.
it was only by chance/luck I got mine. One guys makes them, but they use the WD disk controller chip like the oric / dragon 32 use.. so tricky on that front
I own the American monster the TurboGrafx 16 but would love to own the original little white box monster and the CDROM2 but sadly the drives are like hens teeth.
I wonder what the best looking Commodore machine would be? They made good machines but I don't think any of them are lookers. Maybe the Plus 4 would be the best looking Commodore.
I can't say I own any of those, but I do have a nice Mercedes styled case that I can't find a ready image of online.
This is my new pc case that I purchased late last year. I was supposed to be building a small form-factor pc, but, er, um, it didn't quite work out that way. This case would survive a bomb blast though, I just wish it was a little more portable. Ventilation is excellent.
Back on topic. +1 for the PC Engine from me. I had one when they first came out (long, boring story on how I lost it) and it was a lovely looking machine. Really dinky.
Oh yeah and those of you dissing the Wii, you haven't got a clue what your on about.
I own one, have done for a while, but it's better as a Netflix hub than a games console, and it's even redundant as that now since the missus bought a Roku a while back :D
It's got some alright games on it, but the best ones are all Dreamcast, Game Cube, or PS2 re-releases.
Like most Nintendo consoles after the SNES it has about 6 good games at launch and about 6 good games at death which nobody can ever get hold of because all the hardcore Nintendians hoard the 50 copies of each of them that came out, and at 1 week before they stop releasing games for it Super Mario Wii, and the Zelda Games will still be $40 used, and $60 new
For being the underdog the games are still n'arf expensive, but then again it's Nintendo, if the jaded gamers like me won't pay the $60 asking price for a beefed up PS2 game they know some complete mug out there will
Let me explain, I don't think it looks good but it's a good console.
I agree. If I were to compile a personal top 10 of this gen four Wii games would easily sit in the top 5 - Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Skyward Sword & RE4, with only Dark Souls sitting pretty at the top. There's pretty much nothing else on the Wii that would make it anywhere near a top 50 though ;-). Even the Metroid game wasn't a patch on GC's Metroid Prime 1.
How about the original Cray? The epitome of a supercomputer, in that it even looks cool and something that the evil power crazed maniac trying to take over the world would have in their hollowed out mountain...
I always liked the look of the N64! That was quite slick really (until you put a cart in, the the image was ruined a little). I also quite liked the Neo-Geo Pocket. That thing had the best control stick of any hand held and it's as tick that I'd have been happy to use on a console joypad (although, I'd get rid of the "clicks") I'm think the Wii is actually quite bland, although I do like the look of the new Mini-Wii...
Part of me likes this, but a bigger part mourns the dead organ.
Others have already mentioned the ZX81 and the PET, but if we're looking at one-offs too then I really love the Art Deco PCs made here, especially the Aerodyne.

Looks like a space cruiser from the side:
But also my Arcade machine is pretty damn cool, especially with the front end I installed on its computer.
Really? It looks like it was designed by a blind Bulgarian bricklayer...

I'm definitely pre-consoles.
How about this one?

Never had an Oric but wanted one just because of the way it looked.

With crap games and crap controls

Yeah, I forgot the Pet. I really like that. I would like to find a broken one and mod a modern PC in to it.

The tower form factor was still quite novel when it was new
My favourite bit though is the toggling HALT button on the front panel that allows you to pause the CPU clock :)
When I see the outline of the PET, I'm reminded of:

My best looking machine is a lifecam VX-1000. It's hideous though.
