    Thanks!

The closest thing would've probably been SNESORAMA, but it's gone now.

EDIT: Hmmmm? No it appears to have returned! :o

It's loaded with illegal content though, and it appears to have pop-ups. I wouldn't join up either it's full of sociopaths, I never did, seems like some rather unpleasant types on there.

the one thing I've learned from searching VG Forums & sites on the net, is that nothing comes close to WOS

not in terms of frienship and politness in forums, to a great organized (and legal) archive, as well as the ability to play the games with out the need of downloading an emulator.

    best on this one is!

atari age is pretty good , and it caters for more obscure formats, forum wise.. but atari mania archive wise is nice.

sadly Kim isn't as well "chilled" as Martjin.. to a point I found him rude when I offered help with something.

there are other c64 hang outs that are cool, but the divide between game players and well people who do stuff on the machine is bigger perhaps. Also some forums that are "gut" are in german etc .. so nein gut for me :p

Thanks a lot for your replies, mates, I have found some interesting stuff in the sites you reccomended ;)

Although, as we all know, they are not as complete as WoS, but some of them are quite enjoyable and interesting.

with regard to the c64.. bet when you say you had a speccy at work they say " a zeeed hex what?" to your American colleagues. Besides ya can't say that if ya owned an amiga ;)

each machine has a "killer" game or 2.. even the Aquarius with burgertime + dungeons n dragons

When I talk about the Speccy to my American muckers they look at me like I'm some kind of lepper. Especially when I tell em' it's a 30 year old micro, and I still like to play games on it, and occasionally put one together from time to time. I've already explained to them though that it's "Zed X" not "Zee X", they seem to have accepted that

One of them knew what a C5 was, but hadn't heard of the Speccy......oh well :D

I do have an Amiga 600, but I got it in about 2001 for free, I couldn't afford the ludicrous asking price when they were "cool" :p

If you're talking about forum64.de, I can assure you you aren't missing that much. Sure, as a knowledge base it's great, possibly beats lemon64, but other than that, it's full of flame wars, ignorants, and an overall very rude atmosphere. I feel much more at home here, even though my native language is German, and I do own more than just a few Commodores.
