And please put forward nominations to be included in the poll for 1984. The winner for 1982 seems to have been The Hobbit!
  • Still miffed that Football Manager wasn't included in the 82 poll.

Lords of Midnight MUST be in the 84 poll.

83's tricky. Should I go for Deathchase or Stop the Express?
Doesn't really matter, Manic Miner will win. It's the iconic speccy game. Everyone seems to skim over the fact that it's crap!

It's got to be Atic Atac for me. I fear that Jetpac might split the Ultimate vote somewhat though.

Voted Ant Attack. My problem is that I can't be objective and vote "the best", so I voted "my favourite". Atic Atac or Deathchase are probably better, but I liked Ant Attack better.

You lot already know exactly which game I voted for :D

I think your mouse could be playing up though - you appear to have picked Manic Miner instead. :p

This one's really tough. So many of my all-time favourites on that list I can barely bring myself to choose between them!

Oh man, I could have picked any one from four and been happy with the result! I actually wrote them all on pieces of paper in the end and picked one out. Jetpac won!

Blimey, 1983 truly was a vintage year...

Have gone for Jetpac, though I think 3 or 4 from that list could comfortably share the top spot.

voted MM.. wow , how unfar I got in that game back in the day of real specs, only up to Eugene's Lair iirc... thanks to snapshots I've now cheat-completed it

always preferred Cookie to Pssst btw..less fiddly, more exciting imo

Atic Atac for me. The first great Ultimate adventure.

    Decisions, decisions...

MM gave me a lot of pleasure once I worked out how to get past Eugene, but not getting my Speccy until late 1985 I never owned any of the others except Halls (which had a great loading sequence but I could never remember which key did which) so I've only ever played them a handful of times if at all on a real Speccy.

So it's between MM, Deathchase or Stop The Express for me.

For me it's got to be Wheelie. My mate and I used to spend hours playing that bloody game. Hours of fun :-)
    Sausages is more important

Halls for me personally as i spent hundreds of hours on that as a teen,Stop The Express is the only one there i do not like.I imagine overall opinion should dictate Either MM or AA to win this.
  • edited February 2013
Tough choice! But I went for the one I've played the most....

    Deathchase! :)
  • edited February 2013
    you played it to death-chase!

    just ignore me.

Was going to vote for Cookie but it wasn't there so i was stuck between MM and Wheelie. In the end i went for MM.

Voted MM on the grounds that it was the one game I actually used to play, as opposed to look at / read about, until Elite came out.

Some great games , but AA is probably the best Speccy game ever for me , so that one.

Ah sod it, MM it is, I still play the thing today.

Voted JetPac because it's the one I played the most back in the day out of the titles listed. Hard choice though some amazing games there!
  • edited February 2013
MM is the best, however, my vote goes for the first game I bought, a big hit, rather underestimated, 16k masterpiece - Pssst!

My first choice would have been Cookie, which I think would have made a good arcade game proper.

Deathchase gets my vote. I still enjoy playing it after all this time. I find the gameplay to be almost hypnotic.

EDIT Surprised that The Pyramid wasn't in the list to pick from. Still get a real buzz playing that one, too.

The polls have been a shambles. Mickmog has now been relieved of his duties.:D

Nah, you were right to go with Ant Attack. 'Tis the best indeed.

Well, I suppose there are a lot of games to pick from to make up the shortlist, and opinions vary widely. eg The Hobbit. I never rated that game at all, but it's the runaway winner in the '82 poll.

    I relieved myself

These were the only games for the year in the top 100 - but I know that is another can of worms!

Just realised that another one of my favourites, Lunar Jetman, is missing in action. That's another game that has improved with time (ie In the controls department).

programmer of the year? matthew smith.

the stamper bros, although accumulating votes from three games, aren't able to reach him. (8+4+2).

probably with a multiple choice poll they would have won, though.
  • edited February 2013
They might have won if the imo excellent Cookie and Lunar Jetman, both released in 1983, had been included in the poll.
