RETURN magazine - Issue 13

I've just received my complementary copy of the German Retro magazine "RETURN" through the door. I provided photos of the Spectrum 30 event last year to them and they appear as part of a four page article.

Other features:
  • Review: Mayhem (ZX81)
  • Review: Avalanche (VC20)
  • RETURN to play: Spectrum Games
  • Review of a remake of a popular game beginning with R for the 128K Amstrad CPC
  • 4 page feature on Sinclair QL
  • Speccy Nation (Dan Whitehead) book review
  • 6 page article on home computers in England 30 years ago
  • more!

Any chance of getting it scanned? (At least the section "RETURN to play: Spectrum Games")

    Thanks! :)

I still have to grab this one ... shame it's mail only, I was hoping you can buy it in one of the major stores or at the central station mag/book shop. Add insult to injury, the place where it is made is only about 10 km from my home.

Here's a link to some info about this particular issue on their website:

Yes, this issue really has many Sinclair related articles - fairly uncommon for a German magazine. Remember, you UK guys still live in Sinclair-paradise, where we live more in world that was ruled by a bread box...

I also received a free copy for providing some photos of the Spectrum30

I feel as it is a new publication, it wouldn't be fair to scan and publicise a copy.

Ivan, there are in fact two retro magazines here, the other one is called - very original - Retro. I've never read any issue of that one so I can't really comment on it, but from what people on one german retro-themed website I frequent (kultboy.com) mentioned, it appears to have lost its glory a bit as it covers more and more content related to current games.

Also - hi to schombi. Not many of us here innit, I wasn't aware of your presence here - I only recognized you from your avatar, which I've seen on the forum64 (I'm not registered there, just infrequent visits from me whenever someone points out threads where the Speccy gets yet another bashing).

Yes, it was my fault, since I thought it was an amateur magazine made specially for the 30th Spectrum anniversary meeting that Thomas organised :)
Very understandable what you told me ;)

Yes, it helps using the same avatar on different forums.

Our Speccy sometimes really gets a hard time, especially in Commodore countries like Germany...I?m trying my very best to "spread the message" and get others addicted

Nothing against C-64 and the Amiga, which I also like very much - nice machines, but not as heart-warming as the Sinclairs.

Yes, they asked me for a review about Spectrum30 and as I am used to the non-interest of German magazines about Spectrum-news, I wrote just a short article. But they wanted more, so at the end the article is now 3 pages. And they even told me that they want publish more Spectrum news in future as they think many of their readers have a Spectrum interest. So Schombi, Xterminator and all others who speak German here, send your articles to Return magazine.

The other magazine RETRO is not just a computer magazine, it is about retro generally, although with a lot of C-64 stuff...but I think they did not publish anything about the Spectrums 30th birthday...
