He must have a few tantalising glimpses through the haze!
In that case whoever originally made Space Panic or Painter has a case against Miner 2049er!
well it was known Mr smith also had an atari 800 . space panic is more like the hewson game or err horace / spiders. painter , you mean like amidar ? isn't the same viewing angle .. not sure how much time miner 2049er pre-dates MM
I'm not sure how you managed to read so much into chaosmongers wry comment about not getting paid. Do you really think sales of a few 8 bit games are worth getting a lawyer or agent in for? If there was real business money in retro games you'd probably need a mailing house to deal with the glut of Make A Chip orders.
it's not spectrum games angle you have to look at it.. it's IOS stuff right, the nostalgia market for late 30+ folks .solely IP , being the biggy. tad bigger market I think, sure it's cheapo prices *BUT* the potential customer base is far bigger. Nothing wrong with make-a-chip, the boxes work out as a handy fuel source ;). I got a mint condition 1 earlier.. "yay" hehe
If you can request sales of your music releases, I figure you can do the same with apple *IF* you are the "artist".. a contract has been signed.. a % royalty deal more than likely.. both parties are bound by the contract. so yer it's legal and business.. simple as, and does have to be dealt with that way.
funny how Mr smith got a rather massive wink / twitch attack of the eye when asked about Hogue's game when Iain Lee interviewed him. It's a bit like saying certain Minter games weren't blatantly "Inspired" by defender ;)
yes he was talented, but when you know about miner 2049er and play it later.. then you think MM is slightly less ground breaking as I thought back in 83.

.
Statistically the average paid app iOS publisher gets generates around ?6000 per year. Thats per publisher, not per app, and Elite has released some 20-30 collections into the Apple store. Further, the biggest market is quite possibly not modern games written for a nostalgic platform that was once popular in the UK, Spain and Russia (the ZX Spectrum has minute appeal in the US which generates 5 x the Apple app sales over UK/Spain/Russia combined).
Oh and when I last looked a legal adviser charged ?250 per burp and ?500 per fart, but yer, better send them in guns blazing just in case Farmer Jack's Harvest Havoc has resurfaced as a cult special amongst Californian commuters.

they play cal games instead.. or perhaps Mr Do ;)
small claims court can deal with it, so no need for big fee's as it can't be 5k . if you get the numbers from apple, they can't argue em. I doubt that apple don't operate that system, as it's been around for donkey years for muso's.. It easily settles any disputes. Much like my insurers can get the details of the owner of the hit n run vehicle on my car.

Good work! I'm bordering on the excited now!
Heh, yes but with a hint of fear and loathing in Las Vegas and more broken derailleurs.
