has ticket profittering put you off buying / going to shows ?

I remember seeing a thread on here about what was the last live thing you saw music wise. I was looking at something else on ebay, and the person in question is selling shed loads of concert tickets.. obv more than they could / should have.

I know ticket master owns another site that folk can re-sell tickets for far more.. and get commission again.. do find it a bit off / puts me off even bothering to go to anything live any more.

(that and the fact everything is at the 02 and not local now ;) )

  • The O2 is a terrible venue and that's more likely to put me off than anything else. Luckily most of the bands I like aren't big enough to play there!

I go to quite a few gigs at a place called the Robin 2 in Bilston. It will hold 700 max for gigs so its not the biggest of places but certainly not small. A few months ago I was in there buying my tickets (I tend to buy for 3 months in advance to save time) and got a ticket with no problem to see Wilko Johnson. Cost ?17.50, quite expensive for the Robin but he is an old hero so I thought it was worth it. About a month after that I was talking to a mate at work and he decided to get a ticket for the same gig, got it no problems, ?17.50. A couple of weeks after that Wilko revealed it was his farewell tour due to dying. After that, within what seemed like minutes, you couldn't get a ticket. I was told by the people at the Robin that people who they had never seen before (like most places they have there regulars) coming in and buying 10 or 20 tickets. Strangely these started turning up on Ebay @ ?150 or more almost straight away.

I can be in wembley in 10 - 15 minutes WITH parking ;) . so it kinda put me off.. work used to get free tickets for low selling concerts for free sometimes.

just think how much some folk charge BEFORE the touts / resellers get em, is bad enough.. my brother in law took my sis to see celine dion in dublin.. cost a fortune.. but was cheaper than london WITH the plane ticket.
