If I remember correctly, the +2a/b/+3 has 12v where the composite signal is on a +2 Grey RGB socket - so in all likelihood using a SCART lead meant for a wrong model will cause your tv to explode in a shower of sparks...

What I suggest you do is try and get a decent photo of your tv's output, so that one of the more senior forum members can take a look at it and maybe help you out.

Yes it sounds like you are getting the exact same picture I am on my samsung TV (My +2b looks terrible using an RGB scart cable so I still use the RF modulator). I'll try and get some pictures later on but as you said there is basically what looks like a relatively sharp picture underneath a lot of dancing snow.

And no do not get the other lead it will either be a small waste of money (about a tenner a lead) or a big waste of money (add the cost of a new TV to that.)

As Blownapart rightly said there is a 12V pin on that +2b monitor socket so it's not one to mess around with if you don't know what you're doing.

How many scart sockets has your TV got? Mine doesn't work in one but works fine in the other.

    It won't do that :p

It won't display a picture either of course :)

Thanks for the suggestion. Typically an LCD/LED TV has just the one scart socket these days.

An old style Cathode ray tube might have a couple, in which case typically only one of them will support RGB.

I can normally tell if that's the problem, because the lead I'm using gives me a 'shadow picture' if the scart socket doesn't support RGB. You can just about make out the 128k menu, but it's in various shades of black! My old TV used to do this - until it blew up! I used to get perfect RGB picture on that but as I say the new samsung TV just doesn't like it.

The pictures full colour (so it must support RGB in some way), and it stays steady (so I think it has to by syncing correctly-ish), but there's this layer of noise overlaid on top of it that makes the whole picture unusable.

Once again your TV sounds exactly the same as mine!

Edit : Mine is a samsung 26 inch TV, model number le26d450g. So for the minute don't buy one of these if you want to plug a +2b into it!
