That's a bit creepy - as soon as I read that post, they came on the radio (Absolute)! They're ok, their first single got played to death and I soon got sick of it, but it wasn't a bad song by any means...

Yep it's getting heavy rotation on the radio - I heard it on Radio 2 (yes, I know, but at least it hasn't got adverts - although thinking about it neither has Absolute if you listen through the web)

Anyway I've not heard the first single, but I honestly thought Falling was a lost 80s track the first time I heard it. Turns out the oldest member of Haim was born in 1986... *feels ancient*

I play Absolute via the web, but it does play ads every now and then, they're as annoying as ever!

Yeah, the first track had a somewhat 80s Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks vibe. Like I say, it's a not bad at all, but they played it to bits for a good month or so. I guess at least with Absolute you know that past ten o'clock you won't hear it more than one more time. :)

This is the track I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dtIjyG9gTg

You know Blind Mole Rat personally? I think I had a dodgy tape copy of Get Rid of the Rich years and years ago? Not bad irish punky stuff, for a sheff band :p

I've heard of Truth Decay (although I may just be thinking of the PE tune of that name?), and The Dogs Bollox, but I don't think I've heard owt by em'?

As for G.G.f. never heard of them at all? I assume they're all punk, or crust, or ska,or industrial, or summit like that?

yeah i knew blind mole rat well, kiri (fiddle) and Chris (singer / guitarist) came to my leaving party when i left sheff
Rob (drummer) now does his own weird improvised ambient stuff as tarana, also joined spithead, i was talking to him at a mates funeral not so long back
i stay at one of their ex roadies houses when i go back to sheff, that i know online still

truth decay released a couple of lps and single, which im just tracking down and buying now lol

dogs bollox i dont think actually did anything of note apart from that tape, mi mate mohican nik was the singer, proper gluehead, heavily into bands like chaotic dischord

GGF were quite US influenced, very good musically, good laugh too, darren left and joined truth decay later on, Jon the singer later went travelling and took over the families fairground, which i believe he still runs to this day, that tape has a wicked piss take of europe - final countdown lol

Nice the only band person I ever really knew from back home (apart from a few mates bands who never went anywhere) was one of my cousins mates, the singer from Iron Monkey. I hadn't seen him since I was 14 when he was in a hardcore band (so about 92/93?), and he died in 2008 while I was stateside so I guess I'll never see him again now :(

My cuz was really gutted about it, and I only found this out since I met up with my aunts back in 2011 when my ma was ill, and I went back home for a few weeks.

I should really get in contact with my cousin and ask him if he did the artwork for Iron Monkey's records, my cousin is an amazing artist, and Iron Monkey's album/single art looks like his style of design? I'm curious?

iron monkey are a good band

ive known hundreds of musicians / bands in sheff over theyears lol, a few up here (a mate i dont see often owes me a sludgegaut lp, he said i could have one, hes got loads under his bed, the band he fronted in about 1992)
    most high profile would be
    simon from the longpigs
jon used to be the singer from doom, used to talk to him when i was travelling between gigs in places like brum, bradford, derby, he would be too
rich militia from sore throat (him and hammy (head honcho from peaceville records) stayed at our house after a doom/sore throat gig and me and the missus stayed at his after
a couple of old old mates from worksop area , one drummed for deviated instinct, one played in pitchshifter
talking of drawing, one best mate almost did the artwork for a musicmaker single which never came off, but the musicmaker (owen) did once come to my flat
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdLBgsgA5KY
tears of the acid puppet is the single he was supposed to do the cover for, i still have a cassette with the tracks on (dunno if theyre released or unreleased versions)

I went straight from all the loud stuff to Digable planets.

I need to burn this to a disc and give it to my friend who is from the actual ghetto, he's a lovely guy, but he's crunk and hood as f**k. He's born in 89 though.

This album came out when he was 3 years old at best, he loves 90's Hip-Hop, if he doesn't like this sh*t there's a problem :D
