me nether. actually, 11. I think that's the fun of it. That and reading the brilliant reviews.

My wife keeps asking me what I'm laughing at, the answer is always the same - the CGC website! I find the whole thing hilarious.

and some of the games are totally not crap either. :D

I see Rebelstar is finally letting his true identity from the old days slip!
He is Harry S. Price AICMFP!

Only the true Harry S. Price would deny his Harry S. Priceyness.

I like the way Harry S Price is good enough to allow distribution of "his" games ;)

    Grassman

    By Rebelstar without a cause.

    A load of old grass.
  • I may have to include a udg designer in all my games just to see what bizarre twist R-Tape can put on it!

Heh sorry about that, the main reason was to force the player to complete the screen.

I'm finding Grassman fun, but really really frustrating . Anyone completed it yet? (I think the player should mow the entire screen regardless of whether the exit is active).

    I'm really enjoying your hacks!

You're very welcome to mow the whole lawn. It adds a bit of strategy, go for the extra points or head for the exit? Or maybe I couldn't be bothered to work out how much grass was on each screen. who knows?

Grass man is cool. a bit like snake but with grass.

    Tough game!
    Tough, but fair.
It looks so simple from the screenshots...
Is the delay before turning deliberate to make the game more challenging, or just a result of crap coding? Either way, kudos!

    Groan.
    Truly carp!

I wrote some BASIC for ALS:Tactics last night. It now has TWO WHOLE BANKS OF UDGS, NO MULTI-COLOUR WHATSOEVER, partially complete level data interpreter and a map and cell renderer. It needs game code, pretty borders, title screen, crap BEEPs, a superlative loading screen, and some level data nicked off the internet before everyone realises what game is being ripped off...

    Wowser :-o can't wait!

All this ALS stuff of late has got me researching the rich and diverse vein of lawnmowing games for the ZX Spectrum. I found this gem from before ALS was even an amusing glint in Duncan MacDonald's eye.

Lawn, an absolute howler from this compilation.

Drawing 16x16 sprites one UDG at a time is really tricky. Expect extra crapness.

That version of Manic Miner done in BASIC is an inspiration - If I could find my old sketch folder from 30 years ago there's a complete platform game map in there. But it may have been thrown out and lost for all time. There was a penguin sprite in there too, but he may be resurrected in multicolour someday.

Looks like the compilation would be right at home in this competition. If you could source an original copy it would be a fabulous 1st prize.

Good idea. I'm thinking along similar lines for part of the prize. Probably be a challenge to get hold of this stuff but I'll see what I can do.

Not been able to source a copy of SQIJ yet! Ebay currently has a C64 copy but that's not going to work on a speccy!....like er the Speccy one doessss.

Okay, the background scenery and 'gameplay' of ALS:Tactics is now working, and there's a loading screen. It now needs a title page and some pointless sounding BEEPs. What it doesn't need is a 'Mower Select' page, but it may just get one anyway.

This could be the first game in the ALS series that needs a restart option.

Lawnmower, schlawnmower.. for those of us on more northern latitudes, the Advanced Snowblower Simulator (which makes for a wonderful acronym) might feel just as relevant as lawnmower simulations.

How about the Advanced Restaurant Sweeper Experience?
