I was playing Skyrim the other day and there is pretty cool quest where you have to go inside the Star of Azura, which is a Soulgem shaped like the weapon in Krull, and kill a nasty man.

In Skyrim I think the haunted house quest in Markarth was the coolest one in the game. Lots of crazy events happening that you don't see anywhere else.

The levels near the end of the main quest of Fallout 3 when you follow Liberty Prime as he basically stomps and blows up everything in his way were pretty f**king awesome :D

Not much to them really though, just awe factor, and the giant robots speeches about Communism are pretty funny as he's destroying everything around him.

Dunno about the PC and the 360 versions but the PS3 version suffers some pretty gnarly slowdown when there's too much going on at once. Infact one time there was so much chaos onscreen my PS3 crashed and I had to start the mission again

Some of the levels in Portal 1 and Portal 2.
The nazi zombies level Der Riese in Call of Duty. Cracking.

My choices are all opening levels that introduce to how the game is played, look great, and are tremendous fun and not too hard.

    Donkey Kong Country level 1
Goldeneye opening level on a dam
    Super Mario Bros opening level

I really liked the level in Quake where you avoided things as long as you could until you ran along some rafters, picked up invulnerability and quad damage, then went on a mad rampage blowing everything into chunks with the shotgun before the quad damage/invulnerability ran out.

EDIT: Not a level, but when the aliens (disguised as Poes, IIRC) kidnapped the cows in Majora's Mask was fantastic as well.

    Hell's Atrium? (E4M5).
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Nope not that one... it was on the N64 dunno if the levels were the same. I watched a PC playthrough a while back and I didn't recognise the level.
