Revival Retro Gaming Event - 18th and 19th May
Working in collaboration with Craig Turner (Turnarcades Custom Arcade Machines), we have begun the organisation of an all-new event focusing not just on retro gaming, but on the retro culture that was inspired by, and shared history with our earliest gaming roots. Continuing where I left off with the 'Retro Ball' event in 2005, REVIVAL will be an almost exclusively retro event aimed at bringing as many true retro gamers together as possible in one place for the classic gaming experience we all really want to share, whilst retaining a very personal, social event feel. There will be many familiar faces and a chance for the retro gaming community to mix directly with the people that made retro-gaming what it is in our memories and meet up with fellow hobbyists who continue to keep the scene alive.
We have booked the venue and it comprises of 1400 metre squared of space and can hold upwards of 1,000 visitors each day.
Saturday will open at 11am and finish at 11pm (there will be evening entertainment of a 'retro' kind). Sunday will open at 11am and finish at 6pm.
The venue has a fully licensed bar and a cafeteria with a good selection of food.
Right next to the venue is a Holiday Inn hotel with 52 rooms - we are currently negotiating with the hotel for favourable rates and will announce them shortly.

If people aim to go and purchase stuff for the Speccy et al, then you need to persuade me that it is worthwhile !

The Retro Ball in December 05 was excellent, so this should be good.
Not been to a retro thingy since Sheffields kettles...
Looks easy enough to get to as well.
Will it be usual fair? Like lots of machines to play on and stuff?
Will you be taking your collander?
And you'll be looking out for mongy lard no doubt!
Likewise - maybe we could get a couple of laps of the course in as well? ;D
I'm hoping to go though, possibly even with the missus if they have pinball machines.

Yes shall be wearing one!
A special zx speccy edition
We plan to have a large selection of Spectrum hardware, software and magazines available for sale, as well as other 8-bits systems and consoles. Plus a few other 'retro' surprises too!
This looks to be shaping up as one of the most exciting retro events of the year, with a myriad of guests and exhibits announced already. Check out their website for lots of info: www.revivalretroevents.com
We hope to see you there!

so what your saying is.. I should turn up , pretend to be you and get free admittance.. of course bringing a gift box the exact sized mentioned on the other thread, as obviously an imposter wouldn't have gone to the effort of getting it ;)
I'll have to work on the handsome bit.
I thought you would be the one with a stall full of Make a Chip / Tasword / VU3D / Chequered Flag? L**K R@R3!
His stall won't be only full of those, it will even be made out of those!
Paul Drury talking to Sandy White should be interesting/funny. And obviously it's always good to see the Ocean boys in attendance.
A Boysickle Whale.

Looks like a fun event.
I cherry picked from today's speakers: Philip Oliver was as entertaining and interesting as ever. The Ocean boys also very interesting, and great to see so many of them together. Paul Drury's interview with Sandy White also fascinating and entertaining. Makes me want to play Ant Attack again.
I type this while listening to the "interesting" chip tune DJ in the bar. It's a shame I cannot make it tomorrow.
WELL DONE BOYO & CO!
I was in 2 minds whether to go as it's never a healthy mix.. and the events seem to be sqewed either to gaming or tech..
there are 3 - 4 people I know that I'd have like to have caught up with , haven't seen in a fair few years.
you could always cheer yourself up and buy some games on ebay *cough*
Wished I had gone but a) t'was my Birthday (yesterday), b) have kids, and c) distance.
After watching the video in the link above I felt right at home despite not being able to go lol.
Sandy White saying how rubbish all his post-Ant Attack games were :D
Meeting and chatting for ages with Roger Kean and Oli Frey
Playing this:
Playing Deathchase on a dead-flesh speccy again
Beer
Meeting friends new and old
All in all, well done Boyo
Loved the arcade machines there, and totally annoyed that they switched em off while I was in 'the zone' playing Tron :-P
But, next time, i'll take a proper camera with a big memory card, instead of a phone with a crap battery!
