My wife walked into the middle of the EDL march in Newcastle

edited May 2013 in Chit chat
My wife walked out of the train station in Newcastle City Centre to be met with coppers wrestling radgees to the ground, and had no idea what was going on?

Turns out it was a EDL protest against "Extreme Islam", or any excuse for a ruckus.

Apparently nothing serious happened but the missus said it was crazy (She's in England right now....and annoyingly enough I'm not). She just told me she didn't stick around as she saw the cops arresting a bunch of people and some of them were brandishing signs saying "Burn all Mosques!".

Eff me I guess it got pretty serious.

To top it off there's a footy match gonna happen soon at St. James, told my wife to stay indoors tonight.

A counter protest calling itself Newcastle Unites marched against the neo nazis. The news says there was little incident, but the missus says the streets were strewn with broken glass from where both sides were lobbing bottles at each other.

it must've been pretty big as it made CNN

it must've been pretty big as it made CNN

been watching BBC News24 all day and they've not said a word about this. - maybe cautious of kickstarting a domino effect rally/riot around the major cities like the London one did couple of yrs back, when everyone suddenly realised everyone else was doing it

    - or they just don't want to give EDL any exposure

The EDL's still giving all those closet racists a platform to be heard from then. I noticed after the dreadful events of the other day that Facebook was proliferated with racist comments from people of an age who should know a damn sight better. Some were on my friends list. Note the 'were'....

I think it is disgusting the way these far right groups use any excuse to capitalise on their racist views. I'm glad it wasn't reported in the media as much as it could have been.

thankfully my few American friends are pretty much unbigotted, and the few I work with who have jaded views are being slowly educated :D

Boozy turning racist rednecks into nice unpredjudiced guys since 2006

I say I say I say. My wife walked into an EDL demo.

An Englishman, a Scotsman, an Irishman and a Pakistani went to a fascist rally.

Theres been an escalation of attacks on mosques in various cities in the UK:sad:
I think some Muslims are afraid to go out for fear of being attacked, a guy at my work who is Muslim said his local mosque had been slightly vandalised.

I always assumed Mrs Boozy was American, but then I thought.. would an American get the canny lads accent?!!?

she's just on a mission to pick up his spectrum collection .. well whats left of it , cassette 50 and a few tdk ad-90's hehe

each country has it's "odd" folk though.. I go on a US forum for music stuff, and you have a few who were big fans of the NRA.

there was an interview on the other day on the radio.. and the media do have a bit to answer for. Some of who they are interacting with.. well aren't people others want to speak for em.

When the first EDL march flared up the other day i was checking some of the Twitter profiles of people who tweeted with the hashtag #EDL.

One guy was advocating in the strongest possible terms to retaliate by doing a Newtown style shooting at a Muslim school along with many other unsettling ideas. I thought he might be a troll until i checked his full profile and noticed not only is he using his own personal twitter account he has pretty much not given himself any anonymity all. I only checked a few earlier tweets and pics and could not only see where he lived, worked and drank but also who his wife and kids are.

The company he works for is a large well known one and im pretty sure it would only take one angry person to inform them of his nasty tweets and he would be out of a job as the chance of any negative PR would greatly outweigh his usefulness.

I did however notice he lost few followers who were people he actually knows in real life who were disgusted at what he said but he also got lots of support from like minded idiots.

EDL and their ilk are just tossers....in some ways it's prob best they don't get given any publicity
  • Have to laugh at some of comments that have been appearing on the net.
"Deport them, send them back to their own country!"
One slight problem, they're British, they are in their own country!

Actually the worst ones are those that say "This is a Christian country, if you don't like it **** off back where you came from blah blah blah"

This ALWAYS comes from people who haven't been inside a church for years, just trying to stir things up. ****ing hypocrites. I don't know ANY Christians - proper, church-going, believing-in-God Christians - who support the EDL or anything they stand for.

No, I'm not a Christian either, but this really winds me up!

I just checked his profile again today and it's been deleted along with a few other like minded idiots. I dunno if he did it himself or was made to.

There is one funny guy called @wefail who just retweets idiotic EDL tweets.

Funny thing is he says Muslamic Infidels.

He's the infidel, I think I laughed at that the last time this got posted up.

....and really people like him are perfect spokespeople for organisations (read gangs), of moronic racist spackers. He really makes the EDL look like a bunch of sensible intelligent well balanced individuals.

By which I mean he's a complete f**king cretin

wonder if he can tie his own shoelaces yet?

His mother probably zipped his Adidas tracky top up for him before he left the house

I'm sure there's hope for him yet, by the time he's 40 he may be able to spell his own name? Or even string a coherant sentence together?

For some reason I doubt it though? :D
