Glastonbury

any wossers going this year? To the festival I mean, not just randomly planning a day trip. (although its an interesting town, worth visiting in fact)

I lived about 10 miles away for most my life but only ever went once, in 1995. it was really good. tons of good memories and tons of stuff ive erm 'forgotten'. Iirc it was the first year the channel 4 cameras were there.

Apart from the Stones and Nick Cave, there's no one else on this year that I'm really bothered about.

I've never been, but I always think fondly of the festival after hearing Tomasz Schafernaker cock-up his weather forecast on the BBC news, when he calls the place a "muddy shi*e" instead of muddy site. Laugh? I nearly crashed the car, I was laughing so much :p

Luckily the "muddy ****e" was the year after I went. Would've hated that tbh...

Not me, I've never been to Glastonbury.
Festivals cost too much nowadays, I remember when they were free, those were the days :)

I've not been to Glasto. At ?200-odd a ticket, it wants to be an experience! :p

Not been for many years. The two times I did go, it was an absolute mudfest. Was good though.

Closest I've ever been to Glastonbury was the other day when we drove back from holiday, I took a wrong turning and ended up near Glastonbury Tor.

I always wanted to go when I was younger. I nearly went in 1995 but it clashed with a gig I was doing, so I went to Reading instead, spent most of my beer money on an eighth of what might as well have been oregano, and had my wallet nicked

Not bothered by festivals these days, unless they're (a) free and (b) include a wide selection of real ales ;)

didn't know it was that much now. was only ?50 odd when I went, and at least half my mates got in free over the wall. Organisers cottoned on to that pretty quick and made a bigger wall :-)

climbed up the tor a few times. The actual town centre is almost like going back into some time warp of medieval life. If you wanted something like 'shredded bats wing soup' you could probaly find it.

i clicked on the glasto website to have a look

it started all very well saying it was a great experience with a society inside that was much more free spirited and alive.

then went one to list all the stuff that was banned and the forms of id you should carry to be served alcohol. :D

I went every year it was on between 92 and 2000, missus used to go as a kid in the 80s too
I never paid ;) I've been over the wall, under the wall, through the wall, through the gates all for nowt, and we always got in and set up before the missus and mum etc got in with tickets, always camped in the same place, just above the acoustic, kids fields, quieter
never been able to get a ticket since :( love to go again, best place on earth, so much cool stuff to hear, see, smell, do
seen tons of great music, classic performances from faithless and orbital especially
think the fence was changed after 2000 hence it being my last time :(

id have loved to see the stones there this year

I liked the bit where you run the risk of being evicted off the site if the police catch you dealing drugs. I would have thought being evicted would be the least of your worries if the cops nab ya :-)

yeah, i think you'd be arrested outside the gates to keep up with the nice hippy atmosphere.

i bet the cops have a quota to meet regarding that sort of thing. :D

I've never been to Glasto, i've only been to one festival and that was the Monsters of Rock festival at Donnington Park in 1992, it featured The Almighty, Thunder, Slayer, Skid Row and was headlined by Iron Maiden (who were awesome)
I had an amazing time there, i think i still have the ticket somewhere..........
