    Monkey Alan from The Office

mentioned about half a dozen times and attends the party on the last episode but is never seen

don't think anyone here even likes The Office though. never seen a show slagged off so much as that one on here!

Speaking of Dad's Army don't think anyone's mentioned Capt Mannering's wife?

OK, seeing as we're nearing the far-fetched intangibles:
Many of the letter-senders(relatives/etc sending letters to the characters) in the series M*A*S*H are never seen.

It's one of those TV trivia things, like Steed never opened his umbrella in The Avengers, or Lassie the dog being mainly played by a male dog.

Actually, in one episode near the end of last season you saw her [Howard's mum] walking around in the background while Raj was staying there ;)

But I hope that's all we see of her otherwise the jokes about her won't be as good.

I can't believe I forgot about that! And yes, I agree that it's better if we don't see her, and though I think the program is still good, I agree that it's lost something with the introduction of Mrs Howard, and to a lesser degree Sheldon's missus. On the plus side, there's been some great situations and jokes from the addition of these two, but (like Only Fools and Horses before it) I think overall the addition of female regulars has weakened the program.

Other examples are Fraiser and Friends, both of which lost something when two of their characters got married; in Fraiser it was of course Niles and Daphne, as before that Niles' love/lust for Daphne, which she was blind to, could result in some very funny dialogue, and in Friends, when Chandler got together with Monica, it lessened the humour of both characters, even more so when they got married. Though in the case of Friends, the program was getting less and less funny anyway, so blaming it on Chandler/Monica's pairing is maybe too simplistic.

Actually, this is not quite true. In season 5, episode 9, "Thanksgiving Orphans", she does appear but her face is covered in a pie after a food fight. You can see all of her apart from the face.

    I don't remember that episode!

Well, fans speculate it was Frank mostly due to enlarged screen grabs of his police ID card...
    e.g.

(from the Lt. Columbo site http://www.columbo-site.freeuk.com/name.htm )

It was never mentioned or confirmed in the show, though.

That's way wrong though! The name on his name tag is most definitely "Fresh"!

    Columbo, Fresh Columbo.

Slightly off topic a bit but for a good half season or so i thought the boss of the Sons of Anarchy was a guy who was never seen and his name was Sam Crowe. It turned out that S.A.M.C.R.O. stands for Sons of Anarchy Redwood Original which is name of the gangs chapter.
