Mikro - Gen : "The Game"

edited April 2005 in MIA/STP/SDP
Me again !! I've got a Mikro Gen cassette labelled simply as "The Game". Unfortunatley there is no inlay. I've loaded it and the program name is "Game", and loads with a loading screen simply saying "Mikro Gen". Its a arcade shoot 'em up similar to Moon Cresta, Pheenix, that sort of thing (pretty crap actually !!). Can anyone (probably Gilby as I know he's a Mikro Gen expert!) tell me what this game is, just in case its something that is MIA or unheard of ? Cheers in advance !

I'm not totally sure about this, but I think I have this game on a tape somewhere, and if I remember correctly its just Laserwarp named The Game. Please check out Laserwarp and see if its the same game.

I think back then I came to the conclusion that The Game was an early release, later renamed for resale or something.

thanks Frankie. i've just read the scanned in advertisement for the game and the give away was where they have mentioned sending your high score away...its definitely laser warp in a disguise !!

the advert also mentions that mikro gen will replace any "early" copies of laser warp for a new one. So, if this is an early release, does that mean the program is different and does any one from the archive team need a copy for preservation purposes ?

Try and compare it with the Laserwarp(different).tzx file on WOS. This has a loading screen that just says Mikro Gen, and the basic loader is just named GAME.

Yep, it seems that it is the same as that different version :)

But you probably have a rare game on your hand anyway.

Yes, it's the competition version of Laserwarp, which uses the same turbo loading scheme as Pyjamarama etc...

    Interested in parting with it?
