Introspect

edited October 2013 in Chit chat
As previously promised (read: threatened), here's a new albums worth of music I've made: http://www.mediafire.com/download/dwlv7ctca5v4a59/Rik_Sanchez_-_Introspect.rar

It's basically the result of my trying to "learn" guitar for the past year. Been playing bass for almost 20 years, and I figured the best way to teach myself guitar would be to do what I did to teach myself bass - make stuff!

So, there you have it. Please excuse the God-awful soloing on track 11. My soloing clearly still needs a vast amount of work. :D

Here's a wee video I made for one of the tracks, filmed whilst out driving around Spain last year...

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just to tell me how crap you think it is. :D

    Nice work, Rick!

... but I'm feeling a bit dizzy after watching the video! ;)

    Nice stuff..!

Though you should probably concentrate on the road when you're driving, rather than staring out the passenger window.. :p

YouTube did ask if I wanted them to "stabilise" the video for me.

Im a big fan of guitar music and soloing, I can offer my opinion to any guitar musicians on here.

That track that had the video of the spanish countryside

Slow start, does the same thing for about a minute and a half
cut that down to like 20 seconds instead?

There are some exciting parts, when the 'faster chord's kick in around 1:20 its cool and 2:40
and some of the 'faster chord' chord changes are good

Duly noted. Pretty much what my brother said about it. I must admit I quite like it the way it is, let it groove out for a while. ;)

Many thanks for the input.

nice, just listened to the whole thing.

firstly, are the drums real? I honestly can't work out if they're real or programmed. the drums are good anyway :)

Really enjoyed this. Overall it feels like a stronger, groovier progression from Singapore Theory. thought the sections in the tracks where there's about 3 or 4 guitar riffs layered on top of each other work really well... liking all the guitar work too, the intro on 'Introspect II: Limbo' is badass! the link tracks/sounds etc inbetween each proper track are a nice touch also.

only slight problem is a few times I thought this sounds like great driving music, but I don't drive... lol

I started watching it, but the wife gets home today so I'm so bloody busy cleaning all my messes up that I don't really have time to watch it :(

Oh well after tonight I'm off work for 8 days in a row (Yeah! Come on mother**ker!) :)

So I'll have plenty time to listen to this and much more....well until Tuesday when me and the missus piss of to Canada for a few days :)

Oh, but anyway, so far so good, only got a couple of minutes in so it never really got started :D

Excellent! Cheers man! Very glad you enjoyed it.

The drums are all VST drums, they're called "Addictive Drums". Don't be fooled by the cheesy name, they're the best real-sounding VST drums I've come across. Comes with three full kits (one Sonor, one Pearl and one DW kit), and you can chop and change them as you please and edit the sound of each drum. Great stuff, although rim shots (fnar!) don't sound quite as good as they probably could.

But yeah, it does tend to play surprisingly well while I'm playing Forza Horizon.

Interesting, just checked a few demos of addictive drums. Might have to investigate further, they really sound the biz :-)

They really do! Awesome stuff! Haven't heard any kits other than the ones it comes with though, really need to check out some different ones at some point.
