As Ralf said before, maybe there is people interested in his works, or even working in some related Spectrum stuff, or people who will wonder what happened with him. Announce it, that is the word.
The thing that surprises me a little is why does it bother so much? I mean, the thread has gone more or less normal, no big fights or insults. When somebody is not interested in a thread, just dont read it, as simple as that! :)

The trouble with the internet is it's too hands-off. We really need to hire a hall somewhere once a year, cover the floor in sawdust and just kick the crap out of each other for an hour or two.

not enough Speccy the last few minutes
not enough beneficial communication, instead of misunderstood cross-communication
not enough dead Commodes in the world to cheer us up
not enough Joffff to tell us to "Oh, sod off!" thereby defusing the situation, allowing us to get back to playing, mapping, making, enjoying, talking about Speccy games
Overall, I think this thread's an anthill trying to amount to a whole galaxy of [non-existent] issues.
