getting blind on one eye

edited November 2013 in Chit chat
Dear readers,

I hope you won't be shocked but my eye doctor found something very bad in my right eye. For me that means that reading and working on a PC is getting harder and harder during the last weeks even if my left eye seems to be okay. I will have a hardcore eye operation in December 4th and this will take some weeks (probably months) for rehabilitation. I hope that you then think good about me for some days, because I need your good thoughts for getting back my eye in good health. :-(

And even if that does not match to this thread: g0blinish, please don't quit the Speccy world. We need you and you always had good ideas. We don't want to see you going.

I hope I will be back in good health as soon as I can and continue my projects which I love so much getting in touch with you all. I will do some things the next weeks, but I'm getting much slower.

    Health first Claus.

You just concentrate on getting better.

That's very sad news to hear, Claus. Unfortunately I also have problems with my right eye. Its sight is noticeably shorter than my left one's and from the beginning of this year I am also suffering from a central serous chorioretinopathy (which hopefully won't turn into something more serious).

Therefore I can understand your predicament. I wish you will overcome it as soon as possible.

    Alles Gute! :)

    best wishes to you claus.

sorry to hear that as well Alessandro, hope it's nothing too serious.

I also have bad sight in my right eye (is it always the right one with Speccy users?), my left isn't great, but my right is much worse. I have thought about laser eye surgery, but I don't want to risk it, as even though the risk is very small, it's still there. For the moment I'll stick with glasses and put up with it, I'll consider laser surgery if and when the situation gets so bad that the risk of losing what's left of my sight in that eye doesn't seem so bad.

Anyway, I hope you get it sorted out, mate. Take your time and try not to worry about it, as that won't help matters.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. However, if things don't go so well don't worry too much. I've been effectively blind in one eye almost my entire life and the only things it's stopped me from doing are becoming a fighter pilot, becoming a professional sportsman, and wasting money on 3D.

Get well soon Claus! I'm sure it will all turn out okay. Stay positive!

On a sidenote, I didn't realise we had an active pirate community on WoSF. Arrr!

Thank you all for your nice wishes. Okay, I will try to see it positive.
And about the pirate. Yes, I think an eye-cover would look interesting...

Unfortunately my 'strong' eye has the problem. To be honest, without getting 'fixed' the new problem, reading will not longer be possible. Possible with big lenses, but not longer with fun.

    Well, we will see.

I didn't know about it, I only noticed this thread now (since I hardly read the chit-chat section) so excuse me for the late reply...

    Good luck on your operation!
