I'm sort-of thinking WOS provides the template, Activision (or whoever) provide the graphics and the hyperlinks to order the new games, and WOS in return gets distribution rights to the Speccy games. Quid pro quo, and all that pretntious rubbish.

End result is Activision gets a dirt-cheap retro site and additional free advertising on WOS, and WOS gets the games.

Right, I must go to bed...

But Activision might want some kind of "exclusive" *advertising* rigths/link/whatever on WoS ... they might not want other companies to have the same benefit. Maybe I am also talking testicles.

    @ NickH

Thank you for your e-mail reading, dear Nick. In fact, that e-mail was our first email sent out to lots of companies / individuals (who, unlike you said) responded well to our calls.

However, I MUST admit it needed a polishing here and there. I have done it now, and I'd like to THANK you for your post.

Gamestage is working to get permissions independently from WOS. This does not mean that we are SOLID ROCK and we will not help WOS if they ask for our support. We are not happy for gathering negative answers from companies when they happen. We do get happy by permissions. :)

And what are they going to think now that all and sundry are well aware that you're nothing more than a thief?

    D.

    That's A little harsh isn't it dunny?

After all Gamestage/pheonix/gremlina/blardleblardle...(you get the idea) must be in the RIGHT, because HE uses CAPITAL letters, and :) ALL the TIME!!! :) :) :)

Dont think its too harsh considering the awful and embarassing way he has conducted himself here (multiple user names, lies and pinching other peoples work without asking) and avoiding the questions.

I dread to think of the way the emails Gamestage create are approaching companies about copyright etc look. One look at his terms and conditions on his site shows how awful and confusing and downright lies they could be.

If anything it'll harm the Spectrum scene.

But Guesser its true. Gamestage hasnt come back with any reason why he nabbed peoples maps apart from saying theyre similar but are someone elses (despite the original creators name being on the map !). Cant believe anything he says anymore. True case of boy who cried wolf

In an entirely sarcastic manner. God help us all if your emails to companies are like this.

In spite of all that's gone on, his ego is still the size of New Mexico.

Incidentally, now that you're deigning to grace us with you presence again - any chance of an explanation about all the stuff you robbed to put on your website (including Dunny's maps, which somehow weren't his maps, but which you removed anyway)?

Just one thing reading Gamestage's latest reply, why would WOS ask for Gamestages's support?

Gamestage - You still are avoiding the demands made at you from the owners of the maps you have stolen, for them to be removed from the site.

Why are you avoiding this subject?

Is that another one-way offensive of yours or does this also mean you will no longer leech contact addresses off WoS's lists to pursue, which nearly all (Activision and Zigurat apparantly being the only exceptions) your permits are based on so far?

If this cretin had just asked permission first of all i'm sure most of the map makers wouldnt have minded.

It would be great if all the Speccy sites etc were all on friendly terms (i think the majority are) as and the end of the day we love the same computer and games.

But so far from what i've seen, read and the way hes acted this bloke seriously is a complete muppet. I've tried to be unbiased and friendly but after reading so much crap from him, multiple people 'suddenly' turn up in the same wording style and defend his site etc its just embarassing and cringeworthy !

I still seen nothing in his copyrights which make me believe he is 'for' the Spectrum community.

As far as I can tell he is after 'world domination' in Spectrum terms and Martijn's head on a plate at the same time.

Despite what he says on here he obviously has some serious grudges with Martijn.

Its a shame. If he had come here asking for any sort of help, eg people writing game reviews, people giving top 10 lists of games, asking for permission for maps, asking permission to host other peoples files i'm sure many of us would have said yes.

Prime example of how not to act.

The multiple personalities still makes me laugh a ton

No, seriously, you owe it to yourself to read every single post. Point friends in its direction. Stop strangers in the street and give them the URL. This is the stuff legends are made of.

No, thats a fair comment Skarpo, he wanted to keep it private but I prefer everything out in the open so there is no confusion on what has been said or either of us saying things and later on denying those comments.

True ... and I agree with you there. I am pretty sure that anyone who has read this thread would not have sent e-mails to anyone without having a sneaking suspicion that it would be shown here anyways.

Hmm, out of interest.... Gamestage obviously likes to be onstage, centre of attention.
    S/He is also from Portgal.
Big Brother stats soon. Perhaps It's a PR campaign for Nadia #2 :p

Well i've sent a few emails back and forth to Mr Gamestage. First one i was very angry and wound up i must admit but i've had a few good emails with him and i do think he is a good bloke.

I still dont think he should bother contacting all the companies etc as that might get a few bad reactions etc but he is just trying to be 100% legal kinda.

The more Speccy sites the better in my opinion. I was very anti-Gamestage before but i think things are now turning the corner.

So what did he saying about illegally using the Sabreman image, stealing the maps and refusing to accept the maps original authors, the bollocks about Amstrad denying they had issued permisssion for the ROMS and his quite obvious problem he has with Martijn.

Sorry for being off-topic (i still havent read the thread so I dont want to inslut anybody w/out a meaning), but this may be the fastest growing thread on WoS ever, maybe faster than the WhoTheFcukIsPaulMcKenna one :)

I know why people are angry (or tend to think so :) )... There arent many Speccy players in the world and even less good games for Speccy (there are a lot of good games, but only a few are really GOOD), and some people only see cash in the Retro-gamers and want to make money (take Paul McKenna - Thor/Odin for instance, that one really caused a pain in the head for most gamers) and now Activision has joined the club. R-Type??? How COULD YOU!!! :( 2 of the best games of my youth (R-Type and Heartland - the game with the most touching melody, are already denied. Whats next? A ban on the +3 ROMs?
