not the first time, but I've not seen it in sequence, and would see episodes months apart, caught a few when they first aired on the BBC, and then years later on Sky. And as you know, Sky seem to shuffle everything about, and unless you pay attention it's hard to see them in order.
So yeah, it's the first time I've watched it and paid attention.
from memory I think my fave was a two parter called Redemption, basically Worf fighting in the klingon civil war or something....so more shooty than most of em

Next Generation is the only Star Trek I can watch really. I never got into DS9 (someone turns up at the space station, causes trouble, gets kicked off/killed etc, then repeat next week seemed to be how that series went IMO) or Voyager as the whole cast got on my tits, but Next Gen was very good.
Netflix doesn't have all the seasons though. It only has 1-4 and there were 7 in total (I only know that because my brother has every season of every series in DVD box sets). The second series was the weakest IMO because of the change in the Doctor character mainly (the replacement was annoying).
I hope Netflix adds the last 3 seasons though as there are some brilliant episodes in the last 3 ;-)

I think the writers of DS9 saw Babylon 5 and thought "We can do that", so they did have a story arc that went all the way through and it wasn't a series where you could pretty much watch any episode in any order like TOS and TNG. After DS9 they all had an ongoing story line. Voyager had to by definition of it being a journey, but Enterprise didn't really need it. I never really liked Enterprise though, there was something missing about it.
I agree that most of the Voyager crew were irritating. This is my order of preference for characters that appeared in the series :-
1) Lon Suder - Minor character, but more interesting than most of the major ones. played by Brad Dourif who is the voice of Chuckie in the Child's Play movies.
2) The Doctor
3) Seven of 9
4) Reginald Barclay, again a minor character for Voyager, but played brilliantly by Dwight Schultz
I think it says a lot for the rest of them that my top 4 contains two minor characters rather than 4 main ones :)
I'd probably have Seska as 5th as well

I reckon the replacement doctor was supposed to be a female "bones" to data's "spock", based on her all her grumpy comments towards him in early series 2, but they seemed to drop it quick
DS9 was my favourite too. Yes, the idea was derivative of Babylon 5 but the coming and going and re-appearance of secondary characters was more plausible given the setting. And the long plots were much-needed in Star Trek.
Throughout the Next Generation you got references to events from the political history of the Federation, but you rarely saw any significant change. DS9 gave us treaties and wars and multi-ship battles, which was much more interesting.
But then Enterprise kind of overdid it, particularly towards the end, feeling they had to have a go at any loose ends from the original series or the next generation. The temporal cold war idea was a good plot, and the piece with the augments was fine, but trying to explain why Klingons looked more human for the duration of the original series, or encountering a primitive version of the Borg, they just went to silly extremes.
When Gates McFadden left the series they needed a new doctor and Diana Muldaur was available to play Dr Pulaski. She'd played a character in an episode of the original Star Trek series and also in Gene Rodenberry's Planet Earth. It seems that Gene Rodenberry liked to re-use people that he'd worked with before. She wasn't as popular as Dr Crusher though, so they brought Dr Crusher back.
But, yes, I think they did overdo the 'Bones' characteristics with Pulaski. Maybe they thought we might not notice, being as she was a woman?
I watched all seasons & episodes of TNG on CBS Action on Free Sat in 2011ish. 5-a-week and the omnibus on Sunday. I absolutely loved them.
CBS Action then followed that with TOS in 2012/early 2013 which I found a bit hard work at times as the stories seemed to progress quite slowly.
I am now part-way through Season 4 of Enterprise (ENT). ENT which has been absolutely fantastic. I think it might top it over TNG for me which I never thought anything else would. I'm watching all of these for the 1st time ever BTW. ENT was cancelled after S4 so I've only got about 15 episodes left.
One thing I really like with the CBS Action's broadcasts are the intros provided by Raules Davies (resident "trekologist").
Never watched DS9 or VOY but I'm sure CBS Action will put them on after ENT ends.
SyFy channel is showing DS9 and a different season of Enterprise at the moment, though I've just chucked in my cable contract. About the only thing I think I'll miss is Haven, which has only just started again.

TNG only got good once Roddenberry kicked the bucket, but eventually it became to samey, Any female they came across would get nailed by Riker, If Picard stepped foot off the ship it would get captured, someone would talk about not second-guessing themselves and then there would be a coolant leak.
I liked DS9 that was always good, but Voyager was pants they did an episode where everybody onboard is going to die from a new disease unless the Dr can save them. It was about 5 episodes in and I wouldn't have cared if they'd all died.
there was a ds9 episode when worf became the security chief, and one of the other crew questioned his abilty due to the ammount of times the enterprise got captured. :-P

Problem with Voyager was the female characters (Janeway, Torres) were strong and the males were weak. After 7 of 9 joined as well the males all kind of shrivelled up.

I think i only liked Voyager because of Seven of Nine's big boobies!:lol:

Is this the first time you've watched it then, the first series was a bit dodgy but really started hitting it's stride by the third.

I was typing a quote from Q, but even though it's from very near the start of the episode I've backspaced it as I don't want to ruin anything :)
But it's what Q says when Jean Luc first meets him in that episode (in the the Turbo Lift I think). I found it very funny :)

and they have On Any Sunday, and I've still not seen that except for clips

I dislike DS9, Voyager took some getting used to and Enterprise is great once I gave it enough time to grow on me.
Never got into Enterprise, i watched half of the first season but just couldn't get into it.
