87 was barmy, lost the front garden fence.. but I'd rather my car didn't get crushed or damaged as I've only just had the body work done (thanks to 2 mindless c'ts ?1.5k of repairs) .. a sisters friend just had their car, a branch land on it in the car park, a week or 2 back.. probably a right off as it's caved in the roof.
write off? psh! hammers is what you need for that :p

they are moaning it's all over the news as well.. yer coz we were all moaning when the flooding etc was t'up north *shrugs*..

When was the last time the news spent all night reporting on a flood that might happen up North (but didn't) then?

It was almost like election night coverage. "Nothing is happening. We'll keep you updated every five minutes of how much nothing has happened"

Just listening to Radio 2 and I do feel a bit sorry for old Michael Fish. He gets a load of flak in 1987 for not mentioning the storm, so this time round he mentions that travelling conditions may be difficult this morning, and gets a load of flak from the "I'd walk through the boiling tar pits in the seventh circle of Hades to get to work on time, bloody workshy Britain, it wasn't like this in the 1950s" brigade

I feel a lot sorry for him given that he did, but everyone shows that silly clip of the hurricane thing and makes him look like a wally.

Yes he understated the effects of the storm but the directions of storms changes unpredictably some times

I hope a tree falls on you

thing is they knew it was gonna happen.. so it's different from banks breaking / flooding

it's more the fact some of my northern friends were moaning, the same ones that had mass flooding a year or 2 ago , yorkshire etc? about it being on the news so much.. I just didn't get their logic regarding it.. they were more annoyed it didn't show their regional news.. so YES flippin idiots.

if you wish a tree falls on me? it didn't .. but did in 2 people's cases killing them.. and another 2 indirectly when it damaged their gas supply.. you gormless f'in idiot (and if that gets me a ban.. good.. )

At least we've got water up 'ere!

What you need to do fog is calm down, you're sounding like one of them reactionary southern poofs that give the rest of you a bad name (Southerners, not poofs). Like the lot that were going "Blah! Blaaah! Six of the oak trees in Sevenoaks have been blown over...what can we possibly do?? BLAH! BLAAAH!!!!" back in '87.

    Errrrm...plant six new ones dumasses?

Sorry for those of you in the South, but it makes a change from "Settled weather in the south and east, but gales and torrential rain in the northwest". Back in January 2003 we got two storms within one month similar to the one the south got Sunday night/Monday morning!

Well, I woke up yesterday morning to find a plant pot had fallen over in the front garden. Pandemonium. ;)

But seriously, we were very fortunate around this way, the worst I saw was a bit of a tree had broken off and fallen onto the A217 on my way to work (Reigate). A couple of tree surgeons had already pulled up and had it under control, hacking it to bits and sticking it on the back of their lorry.
