Black Sabbath - live....gathered in their masses (2013)

in redcar i also bought some cheap lps :)

some were 99p and some were 5 for ?1 (but only wanted 4 still paid a pound, think the lass in the charity shop was chatting me up as she started talking about the Damned when she saw my badge lol)

The Don Juans - monster hits (know nowt about these apart from its recorded in newcastle, has an interesting picture of frankenstein on the cover and is by a 60s/70s band) - the covers signed too

    Carter - 30 something

The wurzels - the combine harvester

Harrison birtwhistle - verses for ensembles, nenia-the death of orpheus, the fields of sorrow (british classical music)

Clannad - legend (robin of sherwood songs, not heard em fully since the 80s)

Rock house (a cheesy mix of rockabilly and rockabilly revival lol) feat shakin stevens, matchbox, darts, showaddywaddy, rockpile, stray cats, rocky sharpe and the replays, nick lowe, ray dexter, hank mizell, alvin stardust, rocky burnette, coast to coast, dexters dynamos and strangely 999 and creedence clearwater revival lol

For the last week or so pretty much all I've been listening to is that Best of Joy Division album that came out in 08', and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here.

I've listened to the usual stuff on my mp3 player at work, because I haven't listened to any of it for weeks maybe months.

I was quite nice to listen to Zen Arcade again, still can't make it all the way to the end of the last tune though 15 minutes of almost looped chaotic weirdness, with no words. I have to really have my head in my work at the time to let that one go all the way through :D

Is that recurring dreams? I honestly haven't listened to zen arcade in about 10 years, great album though

Re: Floyd, except for a couple of tunes I could never get into them but I randomly heard Syd Barrett's solo album Barrett (one with bees/insects on a white background on the cover) and thought it was really good. Sounds like an album that could come out now, almost.

    Beastie Boys - 1989 - Paul's Boutique

good choice their 2 best albums by a long way imo. never really got into their later stuff. 'hello nasty' was played everywhere constantly in my halls at uni for a whole year, which put me right off it :-)

Hello Nasty is their worst album if you ask me, I still cringe when I hear intergalactic.

but yeah the first 2 albums are probably the best, but I have a massive soft spot for Check Your Head as well. Ill Communication does have 2 of my fave Beasties tracks on it though.

    yeah intergalactic was annoying!

their early 90s albums where they started putting loads of distortion on their mics and doing random instrumental 'funky jams' as tracks I wasn't that into

I do like this remix of get it together off ill communication though

In my opinion, the Beastie Boys went slightly downhill once Hurricane was replaced with Mix Master Mike. Everything up to (and including) Ill Communication is fantastic! Licensed To Ill is simply a classic. Check Your Head is my fave, and one of my fave hip-hop albums of all time. Ill Communication was almost like a sequel, a sister-album of sorts, and Paul's Boutique was like a perfect link between "Licensed" and "Boutique". Four brilliant albums. I like tracks from each album after that, but I feel that as albums they lack a certain something that earlier ones had.

Love Paul's Boutique and Ill Communication, but Check Your Head is my favourite - it came along at the perfect time for me as I'd been into hip hop for years but was getting disillusioned with all the gangsta (c)rap and had just started learning the drums. I'd say it's in my top ten albums of all time.

Reminds me of being 17, but in a good way (no way would I want to be 17 again!)

Hello Nasty though - bought it, played it once, went "meh", only liked Intergalactic (still do actually), sold it on Ebay a few years later. Tried it again a few years back on Spotify and I still didn't like it - the later albums like To The Five Boroughs were better.

    SOS Band - various tracks

I've noticed I rarely listen to 'albums' any more. must have at least 50 gigs of mp3s on my HD and tend to skim through stuff going from one artist to the next when I'm listening to stuff. Not had a stereo system for well over a year now and all my CDs are just collecting dust. my ten-years-ago self would not be proud of this

reminds me of a US version of say English dogs, action pact type of band, not pop but more melodic street type punk, if that makes sense
