Just been reading that thread and it gets better. He actually left the seller positive feedback on the sale!!!.
There are eBay sellers who won't ship unless you leave feedback and over time that has trained people to leave feedback immediately even though that undermines the system.

Haven't heard of that in all the years i've been using ebay. Would love to see someone try that on with me.

Really? That's ridonkulous. I do know some sellers who leave feedback as soon as buyers have paid, but don't think I've ever had a buyer leave feedback straight away, unless it was by mistake.

it's called feedback extortion and doesn't happen a lot , or most people aren't that stupid .. I've had only 1 trying that with me after selling me something very described.. saying they'd only refund after good FB.. that's why it's always good to keep messages inside ebay, so they can't deny trying it.
nice cheap advert for CeX... if they reward such idiots, I feel why should I shop there.
they should have locked it for xbox live for the 4 year old if they could, so they couldn't play 18+ rated games ;) .. that'd have served him right..
Yeah, they should set the parental controls so that it'll only play games suitable for a four year old which, according to a quick look at PEGI's website, consists of Angry Birds, Just Dance, Zoo Tycoon and some sports titles. Heck, even Skylanders and Kinect Sports are 7-rated, which just underlines how unsuitable a present it is for someone of that age.
Is is just me or did any one else spot that the 19 year old dad would have be 14 going on 15 when his son was born.
He was deffo 14 when he did the biz. How old was the girl
I'm sure you're not the only one who's noticed it. It's just that teenage parenthood is depressingly unremarkable these days, at least in comparison to the idiocy to pay ?450 for a photo of a games console, and having the chutzpah to claim that it's for his son rather than himself.
indeed - just seen that apparently he was refunded y Ebay and given a free Xbox one by Cex
Nice life lesson there for the kids eh
If you balls up and spunk the family christmas money on rubbish (and seriously, he claims he wanted a next gen console for his 4 year old??? but that's another Wookiee rant) then someone will step in and refund you, then give you what you wanted for free
So basically no need to learn about common sense, the importance of being able to read or the like....cock up? No worries, someone else will sort it out for me.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
Unbelieveable, you **** up and someone else comes along and everything is suddenly made okay again, welcome to Britain 2013.
Here he is in the publicity shot of him getting his Xbone from CEX. Just check out that smug look on his face! I get the feeling that this was what he was after all along. Refunded and a free console "for his son"
It does strike me as odd that there are no pictures of him with his son... like Boozy I smell a very large rat.
This is my sixth Christmas as a business seller on ebay (well, managing business accounts for other people anyway), nothing surprises me about buyers any more... more people order through Amazon these days anyway, which is a bonus, as they tend to be less hassle.
I still don't understand why he was given a free console from a store that was unconnected to the hoax/scam/legitimate auction
It's very cheap publicity for them, that's why.
If they were to pay for a bunch of adverts on all the websites and newspapers that have featured the story, I'm sure it'd have come to a heck of a lot more than the ?450 it costs to give away a console.

Neither have I. Huge red flag I would say.

But at the end of the day he's got a XboxOne for free out of it:

Stupidity does get rewarded after all, then.

<shakes head and walks away>
Not having seen the actual ebay add - if it clearly states you are buying a photo - that can't be mis-advertising. caveat emptor and all that.

So he didn't have celeb support then?!
Yeah, maybe the son doesn't exist.....
