I remember a few things from back in the day. There was the times when I asked for a particular game (Knightlore, Underwurlde, Bak 2 Skool, Firelord), but one year my mum got me Tir na Nog with out me asking for it which I thought was pretty cool.
One thing that I vividly remember was spilling coke on the Speccy, the thing crashed immediately, my dad took it to bits dried the pcb out with a hair dryer, put it back together and the thing still worked! :-o Tough old boot it was! Don't think a C64 or a Beeb would have faired so well in similar circumstances!!! :D
I had wanted a speccy since seeing my mates 48K in 1983 but i remember my mum asking me in late 1987 'whats the name of that computer with the built in tape deck?'. Luckily i didn't get a CPC!
I remember getting 'Blue Max' by US Gold for Xmas 1984. I had asked for it from my mum, no idea why, I guess I just liked the artwork. So I played that a lot that day, TRYING to like it. Then I went round my friends house, Stephen Hanwell, and he'd got 'Ghostbusters' and 'Gift From The Gods' so I copied them and they formed part of my Xmas day too.
Xmas 1985 I got a 'Ram Music Machine' but, try as I might, I couldn't really work out what to do with it, other than make some odd burps and squelches. I had kept it in mint condition, over the years, in the box still, but flogged it in the mid 90s at a car boot when I was raising money for a trip to Israel. Wish I'd kept it.
