junk food

edited January 2014 in Chit chat
what junk food do you shamelessly (or shamefully) enjoy

I like Bombay badboy pot noodle with 3 drops of Blair's ultra-death sauce for good measure. standard ones just aren't hot enough imo

I also eat way too many packets of walkers salt+vinegar crisps. easily 2 a day sometimes more. They're not even my favourite crisps but I just can't help reaching for them in the supermarket

If they start selling multi-packs of these then I might be in trouble:

attachment.php?attachmentid=45397&d=1375384999&thumb=1

as yet I can only find them sold individually. going up to th counter in a newsagent with about 10 packets of these would be a bit tragic

yeah these and the scampi'n'lemon ones are dangerous! don't like the other flavours tho... Think they did 'cream' flavour once? Bit weird

cream and crisps simply doesn't make sense.

They always mean Cheese n onion anyway.

Actually, Twiglets too - they're addictive (if like me you like marmite I suppose)

hmm...I do like marmite but I don't really like twiglets. C Nonsense in BASIC

I googled that cream flavour and it was in fact "cream'n'cheesy", so yeah I guess they probably meant cheese and onion. or maybe just cheese

ugh sounds rank to me

Peanuts, cashews or Dry Roasted nuts are all great x mass fodder

Pork Scratchings - I like 'em far too much! Peanuts and Bombay Mix are also a guilty pleasure.

I've weened myself off crisps over the last couple of years. I was getting through 2 or 3 bags a day. Never been one for chocolate. I like it but it wouldn't bother me if I never had any again.

I prefer those bacon fries that i think are from the same company that make the scampi ones, they're really salty though and give me a raging thirst later on.
I LOVE most types of crisps but my favourite at the moment are the Real McCoys Flame Grilled Steak, i love beefy crisps (had a packet of BBQ beef hula hoops last night).
I like Walkers salt and vinegar but i actually prefer Golden Wonder, i feel their flavouring is better and Walkers crisps can be a bit too hard.
I'm addicted to crisps, and i've got the waistline to prove it:grin:

got a mate who loves pork scratchings, never understood the appeal tbh.

They're like a bit of random gristle with mushed up fat inside, feel queasy just talking about them!

I remember getting the munchies in a place called the lenton in Nottingham (they had a "liberal" view of selling and smoking weed on the premises) and discovering that pork scratchings and beer are a brilliant combination....as long as the scratchings are break your teeth hard, the squishy fatty ones were gross even to my addled wits

I've just found a multi pack of these in one of my local ? shops (5 packs for a quid) and although they are small 20g bags, they are really nice! And, they don't give me heartburn like the ones in my local pub do ;-)

If you're talking food, then I love a nice Kebab with everything in it. They tend to be a bit soggy up here though and you can't pick them up and eat them, but I still enjoy them from time to time (I've not had one in months though)

Snack wise, I love salt and vinegar discos. If they remove the lining of your mouth then even better ;-) Pickled onion Space Raiders are also really nice if they are strong too..

Other than that, it's sweets for me. I've got a thing for Maoam Paint Palls at the moment, but that'll pass and I'll move onto something else...

Oh yes! Love a kebab / kebab meat and chips. Plenty of mayo and hot chilli - superb.

yeah, think I'd probably need a few beers to be convinced as well :-P

lol, not had a packet of them since I was about 13. don't see them anywhere now

as for kebabs, used to have a big greasy donner kebab every weekend from the place round the corner (which was called 'Best Pizza' even though I never saw anyone get a pizza there) , but that stopped when a mate who did food science at uni said their group analysed the meat content of a standard donner kebab and identified over 50 different types of meat, 2 of which were 'unknown'... Only had chicken kebabs after that for a while. now don't have them at all

One bit of Junkfood I really miss from back home is Rustlers sandwiches! Eatwell Burgers, Cheeseburgers and Hotdogs were way better than the Rustlers ones, but I assume they're the same company? As Eatwell vanished pretty much over night and was pretty much replaced by Rustlers the next morning.

Speedy Snacks microwave Sausage Sandwiches were alright as well.

I miss HP Hunger Breaks as well, they were pretty nasty really, and I ate way more of them than I ever needed to, but it's true what they say you don't know what you've got til' it's gone.

Sausage and Bean melts from Greggs as well, they're phenomenal munchies they are.

I really miss them flat onion bhajis you can buy in corner shops, and Indian/Pakistani/Punjabi owned greengrocers, they're well tasty they are, last time I had one was 2011 bought from me pal Mohammeds fruit n' veg store, he sells pakoras and samosas as well which are equally as tasty mmmmmm curry extras. Even with a bit of salad, raita and/or mint sauce you don't even need a curry to eat them with they're that tasty! Love em'!

I can get decent crisps here in the US, in quite a few places, but I really do miss Cheese n' Onion, and Salt n' Vinegar Square Crisps, can you still get em'? They seemed a little scarce when I was back home a few years back?

yeah square crisps you can still get. they're either smith's or walkers I forget. salt n vinegar are good

not pining for that Geordie delicacy of a cup of beans with a sausage in it then? :-)

    +1

Haven't had one for years though. In fact, sitting here thinking about it, I don't eat much junk these days really. I am partial to the odd Burger King every now and then, but it's been ages since I last had one of those too.

I eat a lot of curry (homemade or takeaway - I'm not fussy). Is that classed as junk?

    Same here. Odd.

+1 for zx1's bacon fries, salty as hell and go down nicely with a pint (or failing that, half a pub coke, has to have ice and a slice in)

Love dry roasted peanuts, bought a big tin of them and scoffed the lot in 3 days. Has to be KP though, they haven't changed in 30-odd years, if I close my eyes while eating them I'm in my old front room playing Firelord on Christmas Day :)

Discovered chilli flavoured popcorn this Christmas. Wasn't sure at first, by the end I was shovelling it in with both hands.

I used to like Ready Salted crisps.
I'm on a bit of a health spree at the moment.
Where I used to eat crisps, I now eat a piece of fruit, for example, an apple.
In average, I now eat 10 pieces of fruit a day.

I do that every 6 months or so as a detox, last did it back in August, although it's difficult in our house with cupboards of home-made booze everywhere.

Temporarily gave up cheese in November, I've been pigging out on the stuff for the last week, once I run out that's it until my birthday (July) though. I find it quite easy to give stuff up, I only really tend to binge on food when I'm stressed out (booze is a different matter)

    Interesting you mention detox there...
I'm going to try a detox using a nascent Iodine based product as well.

Sounds about as advisable as drinking drain-o. If you want to detox just eat a healthy diet, exercise, and drink water. Your body will take care of the rest.

quite a good idea, fills you out.. people said to drink 2 pints of water before a meal, so you don't fill up as much on food.

I saw the thing where people just ate blended food for a month or whatever, on tv.. as well as exercising.. I guess it's just cutting out breaking it down in ya body.

although smoothies, due to natural sugar aren't so good for the teeth.can't see myself giving up booze though..

I guess things like crisps , junk food taste very nice , but don't do anything useful . e.g. crisps.. which I can go thru a lot and not think about (which is worrying) , Notice a lot of the packs are now air.

have a sweet tooth , so sweets are my downfall. surprised I have any teeth tbh.
