State of Colorado Leagalises Canabis.

edited January 2014 in Chit chat
The state of Colordado legalized the sale of cannabis on Jan the first. A day dubbed Green Wednesday!. Who would have thought it eh, the US legalizing Cannabis. How the f are they going to police the borders now and how to neighboring states feel about it?

I can see another cannabis South Park episode in the making already, last time it was KFC shutting down and becoming a legalised Medicinal cannabis outlet, wonder what they will do this time.

I remember reading a few year back a report on misuse of drugs, Police were pulling over more drug drivers than drink drivers. Had a friend who was well into their weed and whilst driving missed a corner on a country road and rolled their car into a field.

Makes you wonder how they are going to moderate and Police something like this

How did they do it previously? Not terribly effectively I think is the answer to both questions :p

I wonder if the UK would ever do this? Probably not.

let's be honest, how many people in the world who want to smoke weed are put off by the fact that it's illegal? it's the most ridiculous thing to criminalise, especially considering alcohol is legal. complete waste of police time imo

    *and no I don't smoke it :-)

edit - drug driving is just as bad as drink driving, that should be totally illegal of course

Great Idea, legalize it, tax it, reduce prison populations, make the border (slightly safter) due to the reduction in the need to illegally import it.

Win/win for everyone, and no I'm not a user either but I see the benefits of legalizing something that is impossible to police and costs millions/billions a year to try to...

Ditto, it's amazing it's taken them this long to realise that prohibition results in organised crime and no control over it, fancy that

Haven't had one for a few years, loads of mates used to smoke it but it's not really my thing, it either sends me to sleep or gives me the sh?ts.

I don't smoke it, but I'd rather it was legalised simply to stop heavy handed coppers bashing 19 year olds about the head for having a joints worth on them.

Ditto. I've only ever tried it twice, given to me both times by the wife when we first met. It was supposed to be a relaxant that would extend our fun if y'know worra mean. All that happened was that I zonked out for 4 hours both times and I was so deeply asleep she couldn't wake me :-)

in my ancient smoking days I remember going up to this long haired, hippy looking guy after one of my uni seminars had just finished and everyone was filing out into the hallway, thinking to myself this guy obviously must know where I can get some hash/blow/grass/dope/wacky baccy, and politely (quietly) asking him...at which point he pipes up in this loud, obnoxious, super condescending posh-boy voice "WHAT'S THAT? You want to know if I can get you some DRUGS?" right in front of everyone, including the lecturer. I nearly died.
