Meditation

edited January 2014 in Chit chat
Recently I have been having anxiety problems, one because I have always been a bit of a worrier due to my perfectionist streak, but two because I my job I have continually done stuff that is a bit of a stretch and three because I've been overworked for far to long now.

Still my wife suggested I take up meditation. I started with 10 mins a day and am now up to 15 mins a day in the evening. I must say it has helped deal with my anxiety and depression problems some what. Now when a challenging task comes to mind I don't get that horrible sinking feeling any more. I just go, so what I'll deal with it, just like I did the last time. Also if I do screw up I'll live. I am learning to to take a deep breath and relax myself if ever negative thoughts do get the upper hand.

Anyone else meditate?

I once did the Lotus position for an hour, for a bet. My legs were wrecking after that.

I keep having bouts of extreme rage and foul temper.
Recently, I purchased a mind entrainment device called the Procyon from an outfit based in Oxford. It is absolutely wonderful.
Nowhere near as foul tempered as I used to be.
The company that makes them is called the Mindplace Company.
The URL is www.mindplace.com. There is a link to the UK distributor on the website.

If I'd just paid $250 for something that turned out to be a couple of tri-colour LEDs and a white noise generator, I'd be having bouts of foul temper too!

Lot more to it than that, respectfully. Perhaps you should read the manual and specifications?
    It works for me, anyway.

You linked to the wrong video. It does say "The most useless machine ever"", but the video doesn't show a C64!

Yes I do meditate. It takes the form of playing games on my console for an hour or two per day.

This isn't a flip answer, my conscious state changes to one of total relaxation and stress-free bliss whilst I am playing. Similar to driving I suppose, but more fun:-)

maybe try yoga..or write down a list of what bothers you in a week .. then review it the week after.. you'll probably find 80-90% of it didn't come to happen or a none event type thing.

the way folk work in the US is different I gather, in the sense of less holidays , but quality of life ?
