Screws for a +3
Hi,
Occasional lurker, resident of comp.sys.sinclair back in the 90's (not under this name).
I've got a +3 here, but the only thing is that it has no case screws in it. None at all!
So does anyone have any idea what size/type of screws I need?
I assume it's the same arrangement as the CPC has with shallow machine screws on the disc drive side, and deeper screws underneath. The 6128 also has a single longer screw in the centre but the 464 doesn't, so no idea what Amstrad did for the +3.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers.

The case is held on by five tapered pan head screws, there are two lengths; three long ones along the back and two slightly shorter ones at the front.
The end of the case goes into the side of the floppy drive with two washer head machine screws.
I'll go and find them all to measure in a bit (ironically my +3 motherboard and half the case is on the desk in front of me, but the case screws are all downstairs )
It's the case ones. The board is still screwed in.
Cheers.
3 x 3mm/no.4 pt screws x 18mm
2 x 3mm/no.4 pt screws x 20mm
2 x m3 machine screws x 10mm
all pan-head pozi
Hope this helps.
Cheers. Now to find some!
ta, saved me going downstairs heh

I've managed to source everything apart from the 18mm. I've ordered 16mm but if that doesn't work I'll Dremel down a 20mm to 18mm.
I'll keep the forum posted once they arrive so that other users know where to go should they also need them.
Cheers.
I haven't much skills with dremels so forgive me for asking... how is that possible? Is it just the case of using a smaller drill bit?

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb!
Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year :)
Yes, I'll just cut the screws to size.
All turned up from RS today but am tied up at the mo so may be a few days before I can experiment. Also one of the microswitches on my Cheetah Bug has packed up!
One quick question. Does anyone know which of the holes requires the two 20mm screws? I can't tell. Have put 16mm in all the way around at the moment (case seems fine but I'd rather get it right).
Cheers.
where?
