Davey Sludges' putative father
Some of you might know already how much I like Davey's games. For those who don't let me just say: I ADORE THEM!.
Since Thunderturds I was overwhelmed with admiration for the colorful/colorclah-free big, bold graphics
Today I think I found Davey's lost putative father: take a look at "Arm Wrestle" (you can find it at Infoseek)
by Carlo Santagostino.
Despite its poor score I think it is a little masterpiece (and bear in mind Carlo was only 16 when he made this)
enjoy

I was maybe too enthousiastic about this discovery
I just wanted somehow attract people's attention on what a (back then) 16 years old kid was able to come with in '86. I think it was quite remarkable and fun.

no idea: i get trashed by the first guy so I don't know about other opponents (i assume there are more) but the cartoonish style got me already at the first stage

In Arms wrestle there are four different opponents (levels). The game is rather simple to complete, you don't have to move the stick (or tap the keys) at the maximum possible speed but you've to keep a regular rithm with the left-right movement, and when the stars appear you've to stop and press the fire button, then back again with the left-right movement.
actually now I passed the first guy and got to Mao Tse Tu (which of course trashed me)
I think this little game deserves more recognition that it actually received (it scored 5 on WOS) So I gave it a 8 but just because it seems a bit short and the gameplay seems pretty much the same all the way across. Nonetheless it is a great fun game!.
I especially like to see how the faces of the different opponents change during the fight; it would have been nice to see your player face changing as well (but what is there is enough alredy...) and maybe the girl on he side could move a bit (...but again..)
I am not sure but this might be the only example of an arm wreslte game available for the speecy
one notation about the opponent (I only managed to see two of them): well these are coming from the pre-politically-correct era (wonder if there is an italian pizza guy or a yankee wearing a cowboy hat waiting for you in the next levels)
well I really hope Carlo will go for an updated version of this game with more opponents and a sexier side girl (maybe moving according to what is going on)

Welcome to WoS, Carlo! Nice to have more comebacks from the people who wrote those years!
Did you write any other games for the Spectrum?
And I also think an updated version of Arm Wrestle would be cool, with more enemies and different strategies, maybe?
I have to try Crunch, looks original!
