I think if you played it on megadrive etc with people who do, you would get the rules.. like you I didn't have a clue either.. I don't massively either.. just ya grab the ball n leggit.. either that or try to knock the crud out of the bloke throwing or catching.
the basic thing is you have to make so many yards progress , if you're attacking.. and obviously if your defending either intercept the ball or push the other side back. but you have only so many attempts to do it in..
