Plus 2 Tape Deck Play Button

Hi All,

Recently acquired a Plus2 that works except it has issues with the tape deck. When I had it, the tape deck was fully seized up. So I managed to eventually loosen everything with a bit of WD40 and a lot of patience.

However the play button will only stay down for one revolution of the right spindle. Then the metal arm hits the notch on the spindle, one click and play releases.

Any ideas on anything that I have missed?

It might be a bad contact, the spindle going too close to the mechanism of the Stop button.

Didn't think about the stop button mechanism. I'll check it over.

You could also try the fix described in this post, similar symptoms it seems.
