We had 8 bit computers, so we accepted that there would be graphical restrictions. Back in the day, if you were a Speccy owner and didn't like monochrome graphics, then A.you should have saved up a bit more for a breadbin and B.you were in the minority.

    very true :)

I love monochrome too. Nice, crisply detailed graphics are a joy to view.... but I wouldn't be without a big, bold Don Priestley game.

The Speccy is blessed to be a master of both styles.

    :) me too

    I don't think you're alone.
Personally I hate monochrome graphics. Give me colour clash any day!

Agree. Pyjamarama or Everyone's a Wally are good examples of great games in spite of having colour clash.

Yes. I think people can be rather unfair towards programmers of games with colour clash: they weren't "lazy" or "inferior", there was just no way to avoid clash sometimes.

An all-cyan Wally game? It's a depressing thought!

I personally don't dislike color clash, even for new artwork / games.

It's a feature, much like the graphics being pixelated when see full screen on todays HD monitors, or the beeper sound.

    Gameplay over graphics, always!

Imagine if R-Type had been given to, say, Tiertex to convert. Ugh! Colour is the way forward.

I think the border colour flashing when you have collisions etc. is missing in today's modern games.

You can't beat a bit of border flashing to add to the excitement, especially if it happens in time with a tune, as with Skool Daze!
