  • I heard about this ages and ages ago but lost interest because of how long it was taking. And this was for the iphone. Goodness knows how long it will take to port to Android.

The very good news would be that he's releasing a new game for the Spectrum! :)

Dunno. Without The Beard it just doesn't feel the same.

Sometimes I see old Footballers interviewed on Sky and they are names from Football Manager. Ah so that's who Kenny Sansom is!

As per his blog, he is now only a few weeks away from releasing the iPhone version of his new game. So far, the only screenshot I've seen was a text display of the final score of a game, but there got to be more behind it.

Give it some time to emerge on the store, and perhaps one can download it by July?

I am curious to what level of detail the management game will have. Surely it will be a bit more complex and with more control than the original FM1 and FM2 games had, but not as advanced as modern football management games. I am seeing how he could borrow bits from PBEM games like LEFL, EEFL, WEFS, MSWL, ESMS and so on. When played over the Internet vs other players, the app itself could become a PBEM game except you would not need to send orders via email. I imagine a such game where you can join at different tempos: once per day, twice per week or once per week. Perhaps such app games already exist though?

I still have a soft spot for Port Vale.

The football management style genre for the mobile market is oversaturated. I would be interested to see how this 30 year game completes with the many modern day examples.

It's going to be interesting. For a lot of 30/40-somethings the name Kevin Toms is synonymous with videogame football management. If I were him, I'd be plastering my name and mug all over it again!

Man, this is gonna be huge if it finally does come out. He's got to grow the beard back though, and obviously his face doing that same cheesy smile on the title screen is essential.
