Hi
Thanks for the birthday wish :) ,I have just got home to the Black Country after spending two nights in York with the girlfriend (her birthday was yesterday).Great time and York is an amazing place,I have over indulged in ale and food and it cost us a bit but worth every penny.
Regarding 'Jammajup' ,when I first started my webpage in 2004 I wanted it to be easy to find so when I joined retro gaming forums people would google the word and find everything about my site or where Jammajup has been mentioned but nothing else,if it was called 'Steve's Games page' in the search results you would find everything about Steve's,Games and pages ,hope that sort of makes sense. Jammajup is the combination of two words Jamma which is the Japanese Amusement Machinery manufactures association (arcade game related) and 'Jupiter' Consoles which was my games stall when I was self employed 1997-99.
As I joined more retro game forums over the years I just decided to mix my forum names and now I am known as various other names across 16 or so forums such as Nebulus, G-Darius, Mr Nuts, R.O.T.S, SWIV, Robocod, Cosmic Alien, etc
hah, fair enough...glad it wasn't a reference to something really obvious that I'd look stupid for not guessing. :) (although I've never heard of 'jamma', so maybe I do...)
Which pubs did you go to in York? I'm a York resident myself (well, just outside). Yeah, it's a lovely city. Too many tourists though ;)
Sir you are a very lucky man,it is an amazing place and the people are wonderfull. It is simply impossible to cram everything in three days and two nights but we did as much as we could,we stayed at a B&B to the south in Fulford Rd a mere 10 mins walk from Turpins supposed grave.I tell you we are both still exhausted.Anyway I did most pubs in the good beer guide 2014 and ones that looked interesting as we walked by.
Maltings,Minster Inn,Olde White Swan,Phoenix,Snickleway,Red Lion,Blue Bore,Three tuns and of course Golden Fleece casually looking over our shoulder for ghosts after something tugged the back of my shirt as i ate a meal :(
The ones I missed for various reasons (did not find, too busy, looked too modern) are Brigantes,Pivini,Slip inn,Swan in ,Volunteer Arms,Waggon & Horses and the York Tap next too station which we tried to enter on Saturday when it was a major event on race day (doh!)! Absolute chaos it was we just walked back out.
