it's funny that some didn't like the wii version, someone argued with me about it on FB.. but the same token didn't get the skill was handicapped / weighted for players. so you'd get grouped with a lot of people of your skill or if you were a "poor" player then you'd get better power ups.
I used to pick mushroom a lot and a lot of players got booted off for deliberately trying to knock me off the track. I didn't expect to win a lot due to others picking bikes etc.. but I did ok considering.
I think my copy has arrived today as I got a big box from Amazon this morning containing another order and the site says it's been delivered, but as the box is on it's side and I can't move it (I'm not allowed to move anything heavy for 3 months), I've got to wait for someone else to open it for me. I should be able to get a game or two in this evening :-)
I was refering to MK7.. you can play it on the wii-u but not on the wii (older) .. it was on nintendo's own site.. so I do find it a bit shi... they still allow the wii-u to play it.
as for open source consoles.. rather "wait and see" .. sure loads here can list open source things that didn't do so well :)
I think you're totally mixed up there as Mario Kart 7 is a 3DS game.
Mario Kart Wii can't be played on-line on any console, unless you hack it to use third party servers.
I managed to get a couple of quick games in tonight and I really quite like it! It's deffo much better than the Wii and 3DS games :-) I've only played the first two 50cc cups, so I've only sampled 8 tracks, but I've pretty much enjoyed each of them. They really are very well designed and the HD graphics look amazing in places.
I can see the 150cc mode being really tough though as I found it quite hard to come first on two of the tracks! I couldn't get into 1st place for more than 50 or 10 seconds onthe haunted mansion stage for example and ended up finishing 5th!
I do like how previously unlockables are already "unlocked" like the bikes, but even then, there still seems to be plenty to unlock as you progress.
Well worth picking up if you have a Wii U. Not quite a machine seller though, but it is very good :-)
Awesome! I suppose I should really join that Nintendo club thingy as I've got a ton of codes that should be usable. But I'm guessing it'll be one of those cluns where you need to register 9 or 10 games worth of codes in order to earn a pin badge or a set of stickers!
Having said that, Nintendo seem to be quite generous with their DLC. There may not be much, but a lot of it is free! Sonic Lost Worlds has at least 2 full levels (a Yoshi themed one and a Zelda themed one) which are both free to download for example. I know that's a SEGA game, but I'm sure I've seen Nintendo Wii U gameswith free DLC :-)
I registered my copy (as well as all my other Wii U games and console) and I opted for Wonderful 101 as my free game as I quite enjoyed the demo I downloaded a while ago :-)
I've also been messing about with the replay "TV" mode and have uploaded a highlight video of me coming first on the new Rainbow Road course on my first try! As far as Rainbow Road's go, this one is quite simple, but I can see it getting tough in multi-player! The game has a built in Youtube upload feature and I used that. I'm disappointed with the video quality though :-(

I should hope so! The Wii version was a low point for me...

Gotta say it looks really good on a big screen and really shifts.
Not actually had a go yet as the house has been full of someone else's kids all weekend - playing mario kart :)

Seriously though, I'd love to have a go at that

Still very much enjoying the game and progressing through the ranks towards my Golden Kart.
The computer opponent's AI feels tougher than previous incarnations and I don't mind admitting that I'm currently struggling on the 150cc series...
...or maybe its because I'm getting older and slower.
Either way, all things considered, this game is up there in my top 5 favourite games of all time.
Simply awesome.
