All the ones I personally mastered used the SE graphics. Beyond those... I don't know.

In fact I really dont mind if I have the other version, it was more a matter of curiosity after I saw the video of the rzx in YouTube :)

Actually, the difference, being more precise, is that, in the version I have, the White bird appears, but it is completely different to the one which appears in this video, for example:

So the bird is there, but in a different way (maybe that helps solving the dilema :) )

the video is the original release, I changed the bird in the SE version (didn't like the original one that much), if you have the bird with white beak, black wings and a white body then you are playing the SE version

    Oooh, I see now!
Then I have the SE edition, and thats true about the fruits with worm, I used to think that they were special type of fruits, which gave you more points or so, as they fall quickly and the action is so frantic that is quite complicated in focusing on the graphic in detail. So, these wormed fruits, do they have any special effect? Could it be that they kind of eliminate te fruits you already picked up but still havent put in the demijohn? As I have noticed that sometimes you took several but when you proceed to let them fall to the bottle, they are less than you picked!

When the wormed fruits were originally drawn the idea was that they would spoil the brew but they were never used in the game (the fish bones, tin can, apple core etc do that). The game mechanics of both the original and the se version are the same.

Basically when the original version had been written not all the sprites I had drawn had been used in the game, so I edited my copy to increase the variation in some of the sprites without actually using any additional memory (so for example for every bunch of grapes I could draw 4 different types, in the original I had one type of explosion in the SE there are actually 4).

When Cronosoft wanted to do a tape release, I told Jonathan how I'd been tinkering with the graphics and sent him a copy. He was pleased with the result and agreed it would be nice to have a slightly different version for the tape version. And that's about it really

Thanks for checking and clarifying everything, Jarrod :)

I missed this first time around and it's great! One of the best 'new' games I've played!

'tis good isn't it. I'd like to get this one on cassette but it doesn't seem to be available anymore.

Also there was a great vid on youtube of this being played, with a drunk bloke and lass singing a karaoke version of 'Summer Nights' from grease in the background. Seems to be gone now, anyone remember that and know the story behind it?

    (I'm sure I didn't imagine it!)

It is a good game, yep :)
In the beginning it is a bit hard until you make yourself with the system of controlling the barrel, and then it gets quite fun and challenging. The fact that you can fire gives it an extra fun factor. The only letdowns are the difficulty is maybe too high in the later levels, or at least it would have been good to get more often cakes and extra lifes on screen, specially because the cakes replenish very little of your life. Its a simple but well taken idea, and the graphics are quite cute too ;)
Maybe Simon or Graz from Cronosoft are planning to re-release it, dunno :)

As for the drunk guy, who should be ask here? :D

The control method takes some getting used to, but that's half the fun. A similar method was used in Slubberdegullion:

The stats actually don't differ all that much from one level to the next, they're only tweaked very slightly so the difficulty curve isn't especially steep. Perhaps there could have been more bonuses later on, that's a fair comment. Jarrod did a fantastic job with the sprites though.

The big idea with this sort of game is to give the player enough rope with which to hang himself, and when he does that he'll keep coming back for more because he knows it's his own fault that he didn't do better. Just one more go should fix that...

Byte Me was another frantic single screen affair along the same lines. If you like Homebrew, Byte Me should be just your cup of tea.
