Not-quite-an-advert for IRC

Since my pitiful attempt to solicit more users for #speccy and #spin failed miserably, I'm gonna try one more time!

A few of us from WoS are on IRC. It's like WoS chat would be, if anyone actually bothered to use it. That is, if you go to #speccy or #spin, you may well actually find people from here to talk to! Scary thought, I know! But you might even like it. Give it a try...

Top tips:

(1) Lists of your favourite speccy games will probably be frowned upon. Do you realise how many times people have done that, and then never said anything again? Seriously. Can you talk crap all night? If so, IRC's the place for you!

(2) Speccy chat will probably be frowned upon in #speccy for similar reasons to (1). The channel has been around for a LONG time, and so speccy chat has been done to death in there.

So what can you talk about? Anything else (although football will probably get you a load of metaphorical blank stares in return). If you like the 80s, sweeties, crisps, alcohol etc. then go to #speccy. If you like the 80s, sweeties, crisps, alcohol etc. but get annoyed with #speccy, then go to #spin!

Get yerself an IRC client now and connect to coldfront IRC, on irc.coldfront.net - or visit the website at http://www.coldfront.net/ and use the java or flash clients.

Once there, pick your username and /join #speccy 16384 - if you want to join #spin, someone in #speccy will tell you how.

We'll see you there!

    I forgot to mention last night: if you have some tech query you *might* get an answer in #spin, especially if it's to do with emulators (that is one of the reasons that #spin was originally set up after all), and even #speccy drifts on-topic for a few mins on very rare occasions. But anyone watching that would think it was a negative reality inversion. Or something.

    Apparently, joefish was asking earlier for any Android IRC clients. I can recommend AndroIRC!

    ive been trying to get a new ahemcrackedahem mIRC for old times sake (from somewhere i know is safe) but they keep getting ddosed lol and spend more time offline than online

    sure its not you ****ers trying to keep me away?

    theres an irc plug in for firefox ive used but its very basic, if i wanna play with irc again i wanna play with mIRC and all its functions :P
