Wolverhampton Beer Fest today so tried a few ales - (halfs)
    Smooth Operator (Calvors) 4.0%
    English Garden (Franklins) 3.8%
Cuckoo Nest (Holdens) 4.6% (thought of JSW-LOL)
York Quaffing Ale (Hop Studio) 3.8%
    High Spy (Jennings) 3.8%
    Daggers Ale (Three Daggers) 4.1%
    *Cider* Snails Bank (Bishops Frome)

There was also two ales playing off against each other and if you tried both you popped your vote in a box for the best one, some people were dressed in appropriate attire (Viking/Anglo) and walking around beer hall.
    Anglo Saxon Pride (Fownes) 3.9%
    Svartland Viking (Fownes) 3.9%
Girlfriend surround by Anglo`s/Vikings and whatever

    I just had a Belgian Gulden Draak, and in a few minutes I'm going out to have one of these at the nearby brewpub;

330 calories per 100 ml. The bottle is 750 ml, so 330*7.5 = 2475 calories in a bottle.
Now, the strength of that one was 11% and high ABV usually means 'more calories', so you won't have as many calories in a lager.

Kronenbourg 1664 has 165 calories per 100 ml, so a 330 ml bottle of that contain s about 544.

Still, that IS a lot of calories. :(

Are you sure your calorie counts are correct?

    http://tracker.dailyburn.com/nutrition/kronenbourg_1664_kronenbourg_1664_pint_calories

dictates that a pint of Kronenbourg has 244 calories, yours would put it nearer 900. Hopefully for your sake your calculations are wrong - a pint of olive oil has around 6,000 calories - I wouldn't fancy chugging back half a pint of olive oil which is more or less what you've drank!

I think it's 330 calories per bottle, not 100ml. But that does seem low for such high alcohol content.

I use RateBeer to get the calorie count.

    http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kronenbourg-1664/4459/

It has to be per 100 ml, because many beers are available in different sizes and they only have one listing for every beer.

It wouldn't make sense either, that a 330ml bottle of Kronenbourg has 165 (or 244) calories while a 750ml bottle of a heavy 11% imperial stout only has 330 calories.

No, it's the 330ml bottle that's 165 calories, which would be about right for 1 pint = 244-ish. An average pint of lager is generally around 170 to 250 calories dependant on alcohol content. I can't see where you've pulled that per-100ml stat from that page. No way has a pint of Kronenbourg got 900 calories in it. If it was I'd be the size of a house the amount of lager I get through :-)

That link for the Lost Abbey states 330 calories for a 12oz drink (which is give or take 350ml). Which for a pint would be around 600 calories.
  • I was down the pub last night watching the Portugal/Germany game with some Portuguese mates (they were drowning their sorrows after a while!). Had a few bottles of Sagres.

Can't remember the last time I drank original Stella, but from what I remember the 4% stuff isn't quite as harsh. It definitely hasn't got that yeasty heavy quality that always went straight to my head.

It's nicer than Carling and Fosters. Perhaps more like Carlsberg. I prefer bitter and ale really, but lager is cheaper!

Pint of some Bavarian wheat beer from Waitrose
now on my brother-in-law's home brew lager - not half bad, as it goes - and will have some home-made wine later :)

also, drinking beer out of an Asahi glass makes a pint last about 3 seconds :o

    Urgh!

Either of those on their own makes me want to retch, so a combination must be my ultimate emetic.
