Haha he was booed all the time because Brazil's strikers stink badly, good on him for being ambitious and not resign himself to the lack of appreciation from Scolari

Well I'm off to a bar this afternoon to watch England lose while I eat some pretentious faux Irish pub grub...
    Every night is curry night!
  • You're going to an Irish bar to watch the England game?

    I'm going or a 2-1 England win. A victory from 1-0 down.

Suarez will do something that makes him the most hated man in England on his return.

I'm hoping England will win this time and really hope they go through to round of 16.
I think its about time really, the last time England had anything to offer the spectators was back in Italy '90 and thats quite an age ago now.

At least round of 16, will see the poorer nations expelled from world cup, should spice things up a bit and make for more interesting football.....especially if Spain does the right thing and just quit now :)

I went to a faux Irish pub on Saturday to watch the first game.

When I got there they had some college baseball game on the main screen with the sound coming over the PA...while the world cup was on a tiny TV in the corner with no sound.

I told the barmaid to put the world cup on and 2 dicks at the end of the bar starting crying about watching the damn college baseball game...the bar maid said she'd turn the sound up a little on the tiny screen for me :/

About 15 mins later about 15 people showed up and started yelling to put the world cup on so the barmaid finally switch it over.

    Ridiculous! Frickin yanks...
  • How much interest in the World Cup is there in the US?
  • edited June 2014
Not much here in Texas, the ones who showed up were mainly other English dudes...didn't know there was so many in my neighborhood!. Maybe if the US keeps playing as well as they did in the first game the fair weather US fans will come out.

Its a shame really, Americans into their stupid American football and baseball games.
No-where near on par as the world cup!

And I'll bet if Americans DO decide to enjoy the World Cup, then some ******s will come and say they're being unpatriotic or that its chemtrails from planes that brainwashes them and 'converts' them to football. Unbelieveable!
  • Maybe they'd enjoy watching a penalty shoot out. After all, that's essentially what basket ball is.

    haha yeah.
  • Once more onto the pitch dear friends, once more to raise up these walls with our English cheer.
When the whistle blast blows in our ears then imitate the ashen of the tiger, stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with hard favoured force.
Then lend the eye a skillful aspect,
Set the teeth, oh gentle men in England, bend up every spirit to its full height.
    On, on you noble English!

Basketball is a thousand times more fun and interesting sport tan football (soccer) where more tan 60% of games are boring or without goals, and actually the UK is one of the few countries where it is not popular which is quite the same as the US with the soccer... too bad! ;)
Its also strange to see how countries like Denmark or Sweden or Norway have Handball as more popular than basketball... what?? Seriously?! ;)

    Really? REALLY?

Give me a poor game of football over a great game of basketball any day.

One of the main complaints I've heard from Americans about football (soccer) is..."the score is always low it's boring!"

I always point out that's because we only assign 1 point to a goal...rather than 6 points for a touchdown like in American football...it's the same amount of action but without all the standing around that's involved in American Football...5 seconds of play, 2 mins of standing around, 4 sec play...2 mins of standing around...

I have only ever seen a couple of games of Basketball and it seemed to be a case of taking-turns-to-score. However quite a lot of Football is pretty boring. But when it's good...

Basketball is a fast and explosive sport with a lot of archery, european games are more interesting in tactics than the american league.
Handball is a contact sport without stops, women play it very well.
  • My god, England are bloody awful!

we are utter dogpants. that was comical...
  • We can still qualify! We just need to beat that team that are better than the team we just lost to then hope Italy win their last 2 games!
