Recovering from the Wildhearts warm-up gig for Donnington at Studio 24 in Edinburgh last night...awesome gig! :) Couldn't get much warmer than that either..place was a sweat box! Great atmosphere and sing-a-long though, which makes up for the constant ringing and deafness now in my lug'oles!
The support wasn't too bad either..some lass from (I think) Canada and her band that were a bit No Doubt-ish...Love Zombies was their name!
probably the best artist I've discovered from your show tbh, you played something off her first album a few weeks back so I checked it out and and the whole album is really good. funny because I'd seen her name crop up loads over the years but never actually heard her stuff...

For me the kinks are a great singles band but never made a great album. ditto the who and the stones... (actually I dont even think the stones were a great singles band tbh)
might have to refresh my memory of Something Else By...

Try listening to Muswell Hillbillies and Village Green Preservation Society and you might change your mind. Lola vs Powerman and the Moneygoround is another good album.
Agree with you about the Stones and would say the same about the Beach Boys. They did do Pet Sounds but all their other albums were crap!

I don't know...IMO there is something strangely addictive about Preservation Act 1 & 2.
"He's Evil" of course being the stand out tune, but I like the whole story those albums portray.
Ive listened to all their studio albums up to about the mid 70s. a mate had most of them on vinyl. Theyre quite good overall but theres a lot of filler on all of them (imo). seem to remember liking 'village green...' the best. I rate their 'greatest hits' comps over any of them though. I guess the beatles set the bar impossibly high for studio albums in the 60s?

The Beach Boys output between 1965-1973 was quite good. Some of their albums such as Wild Honey, Friends, Sunflower and Holland have some pretty good stuff.
The KInks on the other hand went crap after 1973, i hated all those concept albums they did, i think Ray Davies lost the plot a bit.

this song practically invented the genre of "perv-synth"

Courtesy of yourself, of course... ;-)
just discovered a funk band called "here come the mummies", heard of em?
Not heard of them before. A bit too "novelty" for my liking, but not bad at all. :-D
Can't go wrong with a bit of P-Funk. :)
Listening to: Classic Funk Radio
Track: Bruni Pagan - Follow Me
That's a great album! As is pretty much everything they did between 1967-72.
might have to refresh my memory of Something Else By...
