Anyone up for some Manic Miner?

edited July 2014 in Games
I've played loads of re-makes, but they all seem to tweak or change the graphics.

Personally I'm a fan of the original, so I did my own re-make, sprinkled with a little love and attention.

Please enjoy!

It doesn't work properly on my Windows 7 laptop unfortunately. When I start the game, the menu screen isn't erased but the game screen is drawn on top of it.

I tried ALT+ENTER, which redrew the screen, but then the enemy on level 1 isn't erased from its previous position when it moves, so it leaves a long trail of yellow in its wake.

Ah, that's a shame. It's the first time of I've heard of that happening :o

    Will look into it.

Cool - nice to see implementation of 6031769..!

Seems pretty close to the original. The keys and stalactites at the top of Central Cavern seem to be in slightly different positions to what I'm used to. Was that deliberate?

Subsequent screens look spot on, though I don't think I got past the 10th or so screen in the original so couldn't comment on the others..

    What the....?!?! :o

You're right! Haven't a clue how they moved but yes, those Stalactites were in the wrong location on Central Cavern!

    *fixed*

As for the keys, I assumed everyone used those arrow keys now? Might add the proper one now it's been mentioned. Thanks.

I think he's referring to the keys you collect in the Central Cavern. :)

    A very good remake
A few differences I initially noticed from the original. Nothing major and things you may wish to leave?

#1 in the central cavern (original) if you jump under the lower brick wall then you walk slower.
#2 in the central cavern (new) the farthest most piece of floor is missing under the exit.
#3 in the cold store (original) if you walk off and fall towards the right on the lowest platform you'll get the snow shoe. You don't on the new one.
#4 if you walk off a platform it looks like it's initially going diagonally down at the start of a fall. Rather than across then down.

Really appreciate those comments. I wasn't an avid Manic Miner player in the day so I don't tend to notice stuff like that. Will get onto it this weekend I hope.
