Can anyone recommend a decent cleaner for my Android phone? I've been using AVG cleaner but it's not very good and the phone is getting slower, i need something that cleans all the temporary files, history etc from it.
Also, how do you uninstall apps you don't need anymore?

I use Memory Booster. It's free and does a reasonable.job of keeping my phone running smooth. It clears the cache and stops background apps when you ask it too. I use it along with Androids built in RAM cleaner and it suits my needs. The first time I ran it, it cleared 28meg of cache and it's been ok since then!

To delete.apps, goto settings and manage apps. Click on the one you want to remove, then uninstal. It's worth pointing out that some apps can't be removed! Shazam is an app on my phone that was there when I bought it and I never use, but I can't get rid of it! Doubly annoying as my phone only has a tiny memory :-(

Just go to settings then apps. Then click (prod?) on the app you want. You should be able to uninstall it from here.

    I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.cache

Also, if you have Android 4 or later, Android lets you 'disable' apps that your phone won't let you delete (like the ones baked into your phone by the manufacturer). That can free up some RAM.

CCleaner was recently released on Android. This is my "go to" program on PC and have been using it for years.

This is what I use too and I think it's an essential tool or a Kindle Fire. As far as I'm aware there is no option on a Fire to close down running applications, which most of the time isn't a problem as it handles opening/closing applications well enough anyway. Sometimes though it gets a bit too kludgey and this tool always sorts it out.

I installed one simply called Android Cleaner and it seems pretty good, it cleans all the rubbish out and optimises your memory, the phone is a bit more responsive now.
I checked the ccleaner reviews but it doesn't seem as good as the PC version i use so will leave it for the moment and stick with this one.

I used to use those app killer things on my previous android phone, and was finding the battery usage kept going up and down, and apps I had killed had started up only minutes later.

Now I don't bother and the battery drain is consistent, and I see no real slowdown at all.

Good spot - I've removed the cleaner I had on my Galaxy S4, and installed Watchdog instead, and once I get indoors, I'll do the same to my Sammy tablet, the real name of which is ridiculously long and tiresome. :o
