I've got the World Record High Score for New Zealand Story!

According to highscore.com, anyway...haven't seen anything else online that suggests otherwise. This is the arcade version btw, and can be witnessed in Nice n Sleazys in Glasgow.

I loved this game on the Spec but couldn't actually get very far without "assistance". I'm assuming you can't put FLUFFY or PHILLIP into the arcade version, can you? ;)

Anyway, seems like an extremely impressive score you've got there but you need to challenge this Greek guy to see who's the true world champion, otherwise you'll always have that niggling doubt at the back of your mind

Nope, no cheats. And I have no doubts that I can beat anyone, the only reason I didn't get a higher score is because a) I was drunk and b) I had been playing the game on one credit for two and a half hours and I needed a pee.

You should record yourself doing it and submit it to Twin Galaxies. They are officially recognised by Guinness so if you top the leaderboards there then you are the World Record holder. I can't find anything for arcade New Zealand Story on there.

That is pretty awesome, congratulations! I can make it to level 2-2 or something.

Me and a mate had a pretty epic run on Area 51 once. Haven't got a clue what the score was, but we finished the game twice on one credit each. We would've tried a third loop, but our arms were knackered and the shopping centre wanted to close for the day.

our local "arcade" also sold chips (it was a chip shop really)... but what with the owners dog being around and pigeons flying in every so often, no one was silly enough to each the chips.

he had 5 machines and must have done some serious dosh back in the day.

I know the Twin Galaxies site was down for quite a while, didn't know it was back up and running, glad to see there isn't a record set (so far!). Not sure if I could find anyone willing to record me for hours on end in a busy pub to provide evidence...
  • I've only ever played the Speccy, Amiga and Sms versions. And I suck at all of them!

Nice work Magpie! And cheers for the heads up on Nice 'n' Sleazys...always looking for places I can find arcade machines up here! I'll pop in next time I'm through the West! :)

    Congrats!

Just think the record you would set if you weren't drunk and didn't need a pee!

There's an interesting feature in this month's Retrogamer about Arcade marathons.
