Where has it got to come from?
Maybe someone on here could pick it up for you.

Would you be interested in the TV tuner add on for it? ;)

Have you tried UPS? Can't see anything on their website about restricted items other than the usual list of items that are completely banned (firearms, pr0n, a box of kittens, etc)

Found this thread in a similar vein relating to couriers and iMacs...
    http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/a-courier-that-will-insure-an-imac-1454353

One guy suggests CollectPlus and their Ts & Cs appear to back that up... but I'd still read 'em yourself to be sure. Someone else says Parcel2Go would cover you but I didn't bother checking the small print on that one.

Oh, and that link to an old BBC News story about a PayPal scam will get the blood boiling of anyone who's ever sold anything on eBay and been faced with their seller "protection" first hand. I've not had much more than a tenner or so stolen from me over the years but the fact that PayPal happily helps the lying bathplugs go about their illegal activity always does my head in. You could film yourself delivering an item and have a solicitor draw up a document signed by both parties.... and PayPal would still just ask for proof of postage and refund the "buyer". It's like trying to reason with a brick wall.

I wouldn't have thought so, Parcel2Go are just a reseller and would be bound by the same terms and conditions as the couriers they use.

https://www.parcel2go.com/prohibited-items (scroll down for no compensation items)

I notice that "Pornography" isn't on the banned list, perhaps it comes under "Filth"

Yeah, you're right about Parcel2Go. I just checked their prohibited items list and under the section "No Compensation items" it mentions computer monitors.

EDIT: And having just re-read what you wrote above that's exactly what you already said.... oops! More haste, less speed etc etc... ;)

well , it was p2g that refused to give any money back previously for a cpc+ monitor (pity it is a nice machine) .. my argument, it was VERY well packed but it was down to their couriers negligence (it got bounced 1 metre+ ) so regardless of how well it was packed couldn't deal with that kinetic impact.

Macc off here sent me a green screen monitor and that turned up fine :) but then again it wasn't heavy OR bulky.

collect+ and myhermes use normal folk to deliver.. UPS have been ok in the past, so I might go with them.. work and I have used yodel in the past and they are a bit hhmm hit n miss.

    it's for a cpc6128, so I'll post back when it arrives I guess :)

Yodel I would avoid like the proverbial medieval disease unless it's a low value replaceable item. UK Mail are even worse.

Interlink are OK, depends on the depot though.

All the big carriers offer full protection for monitor delivery's. I get about 1500 monitors a year delivered and I can turn down any box that is even dented without having to check if the thing works or is actually damaged.

The difference is 1500 monitors a year on a serous contract with a big supplier and not odd ones which may or may not be packaged very well via ebay.

Same also applies to base units and any other crap we buy, it's all fully covered in carriage.

You get what you pay for.

Go with UPS fog, stay away from Collect+ and hermes when it comes to breakables! The Access point service is a good one if you have a shop nearby, nice and cheap, plus its a professional service, not some bloke in a Fiat Doblo!

friday monitor turns up... amstrad cpc6128 doesn't...

so I ring em, "oh it's with another driver"... so I wait in expecting it to turn up.. does it ? thought maybe saturday... does it ? nahhh

get a phone call at 8:15 this morning from the, quite unhappy that I'd had to wait in for them when it was far from cheap to get and the fact 1 of their phone staff lied it would be here on friday.

so they say , oh we'll refund it... which I thought great.. will parcel2go (the agent ) refund it.. NOPE.. so I tell UPS *NOT* to give them a bean.. think it's off key they don't feel a way about it wasting my money calling and time waiting.

muppet from myhermes turns up today after turning up at 7pm saturday when folk were out!!.. "oh is it alright if I chuck ya boxes over the alley gate".. considering it's a 9-11+ foot gate , no it flippin ain't

the good news the cpc works and not even a drive belt to change :)
